Real Madrid are beating juve 3-1 60 mins. So barring a miracle juve come back or inter beating Athletico 4-0 we’ve won the ICC trophy.

And please don’t tell me it’s irrelevant, cause according to the last 20 pages it’s the biggest cup we will win all season ?

Be nice if they'd fix the table that automatically appears at the top of Google. Not that it's bothering me at all, cough...

Do we have any indication at this stage how bad the injuries are to Wanyama, Lamela, Foyth, Winks... etc?

I hope the 3 weeks holiday, the players have been given (after the world cup) weren't like my typical holidays. IE boozing it up, eating twice as much as required, then sleeping in til noon, then spending a full 1/2 hour on the bog. If that's what the players HAVE done, we're in deep doo-doo's.

Luckily, I suspect, the players are highly disciplined and have been training and watching what they eat & drink during that period, except Eric Dier, of course, who I reckon has tonked a few cold ones and sunk a share of curry's.

We'll be ok come start of the season I suspect.

As for tonights game, basically an under 23 side, who are probably still a bit jet lagged from the USA trip..and then having to contend with 30+ degrees C against a hardened group of men, mostly all 1st team picks...I am not surprised we got a tonking. These young players of ours will learn more about themseleves in these types of games than those we played in the USA.

A good pre-season was had by all in my book. We got better results, if that really matters, than I could have hoped for.

Regarding the first paragraph, mate of mine has been in the Maldives on his honeymoon over the last week - Jamie Vardy is staying at the same resort and has been regularly pictured in our whatsapp group smashing the beers 7 days before the season starts

So, he's in mid-season form already?!?

Not really too many positives to take out of that.... except in Vorm we have an excellent number 2.

The only important thing we learned was that Davies cannot really play centre back in a 4. The youngsters have potential and some (Amos, Georgiou and maybe Eyoma need loans). KWP needs to play this season, whether it's for us or someone else.

After watching 3/4 of the pre season games I can't help think it has been pointless. The whole idea is to get the players ready and fit for the season. Injuries and the world cup has really taken it's toll.

VERY disappointed in Davies yesterday. Granted it was a pre season but he should of been leading by example.

Not only did he have a shitw game himself, but he was constantly moaning and getting frustrated which served fuck all in purpose. In fact in probably didn't help those younger players around him one bit.

Probably the worst captain you could have.

Davis was targeted all night for his lack of pace. Second goal was almost comedic.

A key stat for me was the yellow card count. Girona treated the match far more competitively than our kids.

Ahh a nice insight into how the match threads will read this coming season, how I missed thee.

Posted this in the Luke Amos thread
but it backs up what you are saying.
'Against a tough team who saw and took the opportunity to bully them.
Looked very dispirited by the end and were playing as individuals
which of course they were.
Perhaps good in the long run in the spirit of
'whatever doesn't kill you
makes you stronger' line of thinking.
Thought Davis was as bad
if not worse than the kids'
for the reasons you give.

Just to add that if Amos could have added
a routine goal at 2-1
which he created by his own anticipation
then the result might not have been different
but he and the team might have felt better
about themselves.

Apart from that nothing created in open play.

Vorm made two brilliant saves in the first half
to keep it sensible.

if we win he INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONS CUP
does it count?
It won't obviously
and nor will anything else
until Spurs win the World Cup.

Our players are legally entitled to a holiday. Would you rather we’d forced those 9 players to only take two weeks off so they could have played in this vital Girona game?
It's insane that they the Premier League scheduled the start so close to the end of the world cup. Surely they could have delayed the start by a week or two? It's crazy some of our players have less than a week before their first competitive game.

Didn’t we get destroyed by city in the last friendly last year, everyone had a hissy fit and then we beat Newcastle?

It doesn’t mean anything, it’s a friendly.

Remember beating Roma 5-0 in preseason before the 2 points from 8 games season.
Preseason results don’t matter

Came in here to see some comments on the game but just found lots of grown men crying about a pointless game that they probably didn't watch either. Some very very embarrassing comments :X3:

This was basically an old fashioned Spurs XI preseason match to give fringe players a run out. It also fulfilled the contract to play the game. Not a lot else to make of it except ideally it would have been against Enfield Town on a balmy summers evening in North London and not against a decent Spanish side in Spain in a heatwave.

Not a criticism, just an observation but Interesting that stones and walker both started for city today, wonder when they were actually back in training?
