Doesn't seem to be a thread....

Robinson - 6 (One absolutely cracking save at 1-0, but looked shaky again. Caught in no man's land early on and got away with it, flapped at a few crosses).

Lee - 6.5 (Solid again, offered a little bit going forward).

Kaboul - 5 (Shocking mistake almost cost us a goal early on, looked really nervy and we defended better when he went off).

Dawson - 7 (Best game for a while, an absolute rock in the 2nd half when he won almost everything in the air).

Chimbonda - 6.5 (Did ok at right back, and actually looked very good when moved to centre back).

Malbranque - 7 (Quiet early on but improved, and worked extremely hard).

Zokora - 6.5 (Didn't dominate the midfield like he needs to be doing against weak teams like Blackpool. I still approve of the amount of running he does, he's one of the few players who close down. More woeful shooting though, needs to give up).

Jenas - 6 (Pretty awful in the first half, but seemed to come alive in the last 20 mins when it possibly dawned on him he's playing for his future and he began to actually run.

Lennon - 7 (Getting better with every game, delighted to see him beginning to run at defenders again. Got his pace back and their left back was shitting it every time he got the ball. Could've been more selfish a few times though).

Berbatov - 6.5 (Improved work rate, and a few absolutely delightful touches. Still doesn't look the same player as last season though).

Keane - 7 (Took his goal extremely well, and worked pretty hard again).

Subs:
Tainio - 6.5 (Didn't do anything wrong in an unfamiliar position).
Defoe - 6.5 (Looked sharp, stung the keeper's palms twice).
Bent - 5 (Looked unbelievably clumsy again, did nothing).

Can't disagree too much except for Jenas and Zokora, neither of whom merited much more than a 5.

JJ did ok and although lacks mental toughness and never stamps his authority on a game he is head and shoulders our best central midfield player.

Zoko was shocking again in the last 30 min. As in the Blackburn game he went totally missing for the last half hour, disgraceful.

For a change, I seem to have watched the same match as the other posters. SS57s ratings are pretty much the same as mine.

Thought we played with a better tempo today but the defending was still pretty poor. Interesting early substitutions by Ramos. Assume the Kaboul substitution was tactical. If so, it is reassuring that Ramos is prepared to change things if a player is having a 'mare.

What a terrific substitution that was, Kaboul was shockingly bad, and maybe he was affecting Dawson, as soon as he went off and Chimbonda went to centre back we calmed down, we looked solid at the back and better in midfield.

Why is Jenas head and shoulders our best midfielder? I believe the exact opposite. Could a Jenas fan please tell me why they rate him so highly.

Robbo was a little better. Great save 2nd half. from north upper it looked a goal all the way
Thought wipey was poor. would prefer to see him as backup on the right. too predictable when going forward
Jenas = Shocking
Berbatov's body language worries me. I know he's off form but he just doesn't seem interested enough for me
Lennon is improving
I still want to see Malbranque start in the centre
Kaboul had a stinker. I kinda think he's been dropped in it too soon because of Ledley's injury but i still think he will be quality in the future
Dawson was much better in the second half. can't wait for Ledley to come back though
Keano . i love this guy's attitude. never gives up even when he's having a poor game. first name on the team sheet for me
Chimbo still needs to work on his defensive duties more
Zokora I'm still not sure about this guy. I'd like to see a sense of urgency in his play and mental approach. Not too sure he'll survive the regime change
Still. Nice to keep a clean sheet and that something and potato pie at half time could have been a little warmer

Because we don't have any good one's. He's the only one that has anything like an all round game. Are any of the others likely to get up and down the pitch all day, put tackles, make assists, score goals and pass the ball? This isn't a defence of JJ as I'm currently not a fan (though I often change my mind about him), but he is our best midfielder and quite comfortably, which is very worrying. Look at the competition. The Hudd has all the ability in the world, but can hardly move, TT tries hard is very committed but isn't the most gifted of players and Zokora is very athletic and will pass the ball neatly when sitting deep, but ask him to effect of football game and he is incapable. JJ might play like he lacks a pair of testicles, but he passes the ball and tackles as much as any of the others and he scores more than the other 3 put together. He's the best we've got, but that is a real concern as at the moment I don't think he is good enough.

Jenas problem is that he's had stand out games against the toughest of teams.. for example at Old trafford this year he was very good. So we measure him against those and last night and a few times this season he's been nothing like as good.
i've noticed a pattern.
JJ with TT = good.
JJ with hud = good
jj with zokora = bad.
perhaps it's the differnce in roles he plays with those partners or perhaps (my theory) zokora's such a non-entity as a footballer that jenas is asked to do too much in too many differnt areas of the pitch. Why was it last night that 2 of our best moves got the ball to Zokora 25 yrds out and not Jenas?
