Aaron Lennon hasn't really improved playing on the wings going forward but there can be no questions about his defensive qualities. If we're playing a 4231 I would like to see Lennon played in certain games ias a No. 10 in the hole given more central responsibilities...his speed and dribbling abilities could cause a lot of problems.

Did you read the article... I kinda agree, Lennon will be a valuable squad player, and if not first choice, it allows Poch to change the system if required and Lennon definitely gives something different when he would come on, and could cause some problems in the final 30min of games. I am glad we still have him as an option - although also glad we don't need to have him in our run on squad.

To be fair the article does make some well reasoned points and analysis of Lennon's career, just have to look past the ridiculous headline

How can comparisons with Walcott now be laughable - Walcott has shown no signs of improving.
If Lennon is allowed to develop with Potch he will be awesome once more, mark my words.

Doesn't matter how he plays, he doesn't fit the system and he doesn't score.

While I still like him as a player he hasn't developed and there was good reasons for why the club tried to sell him. I wish him the best but he has all the hallmarks of a player in the 'comfort zone'.

Walcott has roughly a 1 in 4 goal ratio and I'm pretty sure he assists far, far more than Lennon has done / will. Lennon 1 goal in 9 ratio over the course of his time with us.
I'd say that shows who is by far the better player.

Besides, at the age of 27 I think you have seen all the development you're gonna get out of Lennon. Where as Walcott will more than likely come back into the Arse squad and help take them up another notch, he has shown that over quite a few years.

As you mention Walcott and improvement, I agree he has not show much sign of that over the years but as a wide player and I hate to say it, he'd always be a much bigger benefit to any side than Lennon.

We all know what Lennon an do, he has amazing pace and has the guts to take on any player.

his decision making and final ball is questionable... but i feel he could be useful coming off the bench to terrorize a poor full back in the 2nd half.

glad we kept him imo.

The article headline might be a huge overstatement, but was very important we kept him imo.

He can upgraded on sure, but until that time we need his pace and ability to actually get in behind teams as we basically have no one else who can do it.

What Speed? He hasn't roasted anyone in a straight race for about 3 years.

Working hard defensively is the minimum I expect from anyone in midfield, why does he keep getting singled out for praise?

Nothing to offer going forward.

I still think Azza can be useful this season. Just needs a kick up the arse, like most of our squad. The competition might do him good. We've already seen Rose, initially, increase his level of performances since the arrival of the Davies
