Starting tonight against Inter Milan (Live 19:45, BT Sport 3)

Didn't get a touch in the first half as Inter dominated. As soon as I switched over he scored, and Samp went on to win 2-1 in the end.

Jose has been wrong before when assessing players I know (f.ex. Matic, de Bruyne) but these comments are still food for thought..

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho gave a withering assessment of Shaw after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with West Brom.

“Luke Shaw? It was difficult for him to be on the bench because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Darmian, with Blind,” Mourinho said.

“The way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition, I cannot compare. He’s a long way behind.”

All comments from people associated with Shaw (Les Reid and Mourinho) say he is a poor trainer and lacks application. Would keep Davies and Rose over Shaw considering the outlay you'd need to make.

You're forgetting the fact that Poch actually worked with Shaw for one season.

He was offside and got the slightest of touches as the ball crossed the line

I think the problem with Shaw coming in and rotating with Rose is that he's a guy who needs to play every week to keep his fitness up. His diet is poor, and he obviously doesn't look after himself well. He needs to play a lot to keep his weight down.

Patrik Schick - 21 - Striker - Sampdoria - Czech Republic

Was mentioned as a prospect to keep an eye out for on BT's European Football Show recently. He's featured mostly from the bench for Sampdoria this season, but has still managed to rack up 7 goals in just 810 minutes, including strikes against Juventus, Roma and Lazio. The 6'2 forward has already been linked with the likes of Juve, Man Utd, Chelsea and Inter.

Had a very good game against Inter last night - on paper would suit the Premier League: big, fast, tricksy

I wouldn't go as far as a very good game, barely touched the ball in the first half. Can see he's talented though

I imagine Poch's daily training is more strenuous than playing in a weekly match...

Looks a real handful. I'm surprised we haven't been linked with more Argentines with Poch in charge. I'm always weary of straight from South America signings especially when there'd already be in there mid 20's by the time we'd sign them, a la Paulinho.

But I'd love for more Argie's to join, they have a great footballing culture and I always prefer them to Brazilians. Sticking with River Plate I'd love for us to take a look at Druissi and Gonzalo Martinez as well, very interesting lads.

I am not going to translate this article written in Norwegian but in short it mention certain players who were mediocre or flops in the Norwegian Eliteserie (literally "Elitist League"), as well as some players who did well in Eliteserien in other leagues afterwards. If we divided all the European football leagues into 4 "levels" I reckon the Norwegian top-tier league would fall into the 3rd best category. None of these "flops" mentioned became world class players but they did much better in better leagues.
I am posting this article simply to show that scouting can be an really difficult "art" as so many factors play in.

Lucas Pratto
4 goals in 21 games for Lyn (2008-9)

Ragnar Klavan
Just 2 games for Vålerengen in 2004

Oumar Niasse
Just 3 games for Brann while on loan in 2012

Daniel Wass
Just 3 games for Fredrikstad while on loan.

Didier Konan Ya
On and off (more off) at Rosenborg

Giancarlo González
Not a flop at Vålerengen but far from a stand out either in 2013

Odion Ighalo
9 goals in 20 games for Lyn is ok but nothing spectactular (2007)

Sebastián Eguren
CB who was unable to get regular football at Rosenborg

Anyone seen much of Sergej Milinković-Savić - my advanced scouting techniques have suggested he's similar to Dembele in terms of his strength and dribbling ability.

Arsenal could miss out to north London rivals Spurs in the race for Blackpool sensation Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The teenage winger has enjoyed a superb season for the Seasiders and has caught the eye of several leading clubs.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be a big fan, but the Gunners face competition from Everton and Aston Villa for the 19-year-old.

And now the Sun claim that Tottenham have entered the race for the talented attacker, who has scored five goals in 39 games this season.

The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ready to make a bid for Osayi-Samuel as they look to steal a march on their rivals for the in-demand forward.

Osayi-Samuel was born in Nigeria but moved to Spain soon. He arrived in England when he was 10 and started to make his way in football.

Having progressed through the youth ranks at Blackpool he made his senior debut in March 2015.

anyone know about Jairo Riedewald (20) from Ajax? seems to be a versatile defender who can also play as midfielder/defensive midfielder just like Dier. good passing and dribbling according to whoscored

Daley Sinkgraven seems to be another interesting prospect. changed from a playmaker to a left back

You have to be careful with Ajax players, Ajax have a habit of playing players from the academy even if they're not that good just to fit the narrative. Davinson Sanchez is better than Riedewald, you'll see Sanchez at a top club in 3/4 years imo.
