From the Daily Mail...Tottenham boss Martin Jol, delighted that Aaron Lennon signed a new contract yesterday taking him through to 2012, is still hopeful of concluding a deal for Watford's highly-rated winger Ashley Young.

But the Dutch coach has conceded that he made a mistake bringing Egypt striker Mido to the club and is prepared to offload him, possibly to Portsmouth, during the window.

Mido was recalled to the side for the 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool on December 30, but his poor performance has convinced Jol that he no longer has a future at White Hart Lane.

Spurs have had interest from Everton for out-of-favour midfielder Edgar Davids and will also listen to offers for Paul Stalteri, Calum Davenport and Anthony Gardner.

Young IN - definately even for the 9 mln they are demanding. Him on the left and Lennon on the right with Hud and JJ in between would be a killer all-English midfield (the only one in the league if Im not mistaken)
    Tasty
Mido OUT - dont think so. He may not be at his best, but thats due to injury and a lack of games + laziness at times. Im sorry all you Mido fans, but thats a grim fact. Do I want him to stay? Until the summer to prove himself. Would start crying if he left? No.

I love how they say Jol has conceded - where exactly? Because there are fuck all quotes in that 'article'. I also love the way they openly admit it's balls by saying he will get offloaded 'possibly to Portsmouth' - talk about grab a random name out of a hat and chuck it in.

Would like to see us sign Young, but can't see Mido going anywhere, good back up striker. Isn't there also that rule about moving between two clubs in one season?

    Bullshit!!!!!! Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiidooooooo

More newspaper rubbish. Laughable these guys get paid and must be quite pleased with themselves.

    Come on

Mido r0x0rz, he holds the ball up so well and has been putting more effort into his play of late. I feel if we lost him we would lose having a big man upfront to hold play up in the other half in the games agianst tough opposition. We need a player like this on the bench if we start to flag in the other positons and just need to hold out for 15mins.

Also, I agree with the earlier post on Young. Stump up the £9m and get it sorted, then we'll have too wingers that will make every team in the league shit themselves when they think of how fast their fullbacks will have to be to hold us back. That would leave Hudd and JJ in the centre more time and space to work their magic (or Zok space to run through as we know he can).

Lets also whack out the other £9m we got for Carrick and grab that Bale lad. Then it's top 3 here we come, with a solid squad to back it up this time too.

He was poor against liverpool but he was only marginally fitter than berbs as he had to have a pain killing injection to play so dot read into that too much.

I agree with most of the comments here. Once Mido is fully fit, hopefully he can rediscover the great "defender bullying" form he showed last year...but the big question is whether he can oust Berby as the no. 1 big striker? Probably not!

I can't see how Young is worth £9million or how Mido is not worth a place. Most of all I can't see how Martin Jol would unburden himself in this way to a reporter.

bullshiiit like usual! these are all rumours, this however is a FACT: under fifa rules mido cannot play for another club this season, as he has already plaed for roma this current season in the italian super cup! therfore he at least stays wit spurs till the summer!

Mido has such potential but needs to keep off the Kebabs!!! If he goes then lets get Darren Bent for Charlton.

First point, the good news about Aaron Lennon, just means we can put all the rumours about Chelsea signing him out of the window for another few years, and will take the pressure of him.

Second point Mido, will not be going anywhere, when he signed, must of know that he would be playing second fiddle to Berbatov and Defoe. We will need him for the cup games, Just look at Arsenal and Liverpool today, only played about two first team player each for the cup game. Cannot see Davenport going, we will need a big squad for our premiership games, then we are also in Europe, and the two other cups
