    Villa still Keane on Robbie.

Negotiations between Aston Villa and Spurs are about to start over Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill wants to sign Robbie Keane from Tottenham and Harry Redknapp wants Agbonlahor in exchange.

Agbonlahor's raw pace is seen as an asset as Spurs prepare for their debut season in the Champions League, while Keane's White Hart Lane career is over after a loan spell with Celtic and he has always been admired by O'Neill.

Spurs value Keane at £12m and Agbonlahor will command a similar fee when the two clubs begin talks.

Redknapp has other targets in mind, but fears he has lost out on Joe Cole.

His salary demands, in excess of £100,000 a week, are way out of Tottenham's budget for next season.

Im not a fan of either player but would have him over Keane!
  2. fitzy
age wise alone it would make sense. GA would command a sell on fee if he does not work out. Robbie is in his twilight years of his career, like you dont particularly rate either that much

Not prolific enough. If we're going to buy a new forward I'd like to see a player come in who can knock in twenty goals a season.

i hope we get gabby - would be well worth the gamble

I thought that, qualification to the CL was supposed to attract the next level of player, to move us forward. Why then are we linked with the same ole' tat (IMO of course), the same average player we have always been linked with?

Last season he scored 13 goals in 33 league games. That's not a bad return for someone who would be considered a secondary striker and from a club who don't particularly score that many goals.

Maybe with us, creating more chances, he will get more goals.

His overall goalscoring record for Villa doesn't look that impressive but I think he was played as a winger for his first few season which might not help the overall stats.

Think he could be a decent signing... but of course this is the NotW so it's probably a load of lies...

Gaby for Keane would be a good swap, as long as we still bring in a more prolific striker.

If we just bring in Gaby and Eidur i'd be worried for next season in terms of goals and somewhat underwhelmed too.

Gab for Keane I will take that but we need a big name thats used to Champions League football up front still.
  9. DC_Boy
for me it's about improving the squad - gabby is a step up from keane so if we can do it i'm all for it

if we were able to get a 'signature singining' then we could offload pav no danger

but gabby is more realistic than plucking names out of the (continental and rarefied) air

Gabby will be good for those trips up north, but as said above we need a top top striker.

If we are getting Guddy why Abby? How much is Keane worth £10m? Is it worth spending that amount on a 5th place striker (possibly 6th if 2 Saints comes back) I'd rather spend an extra £10m and get a first choice striker.

We don't need Keane and Gudjonsen at the club. So if Gudjonsen stays Keane can leave. The only problem for me would be who'd take the penalties. In my five years at the lane I've seen Keano only miss one penalty, and even then he scored the rebound.

All our othe penalty takers are pants, and I have little confidence when they stand over the ball
  13. infamousyiddo
hmm not sure about gabby, but would he thrive on playing behind lennon, modric, hudd?

it seems though that keano will move on, hasnt worked out second time round but still a ledge at the lane

The only reservation I have is that Gabby would be a player I would want to see improve from his current level as he is good but needs to be better. However he has been playing under Martin O'Neil a manager who, like Harry, is known for getting the best out of players. If O'Neil couldn't push him on then there could be doubts that Harry will be able to either.
  15. eddiev14
    Please no. He's rubbish.
  16. Bus-Conductor
this is a bad joke surely. I'd rather keep Keane.
  17. battspur
I cant believe people are being sold this crud

    'Gaby' this 'Gaby that' !!

He is not going to join Spurs because he is not as good, let alone an
improvement on what, we have already !!
  18. JimmyG2
All pure speculation. If O'Neill does want Keane we don't have to swap for a player we don't really need.

Just sell Keane if Gudjohnsen is staying, which is more speculation, and keep Pavlyuchenko.
If Giovani is coming back, and I hope he is, then we don't need to sign anyone
though a holding striker for Crouch would be nice.

Balotelli. would be a better use of money. The boy has talent to burn & with a manager like Harry he would pump.
