When Tottenham fans think of possible Mousa Dembele replacements their thoughts immediately focus on world-class options that are likely out of the club’s price range. Mauricio Pochettino has lined up some more realistic options. One of those players is Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

Best player in the Championship for many years. Young and with bags of talent. Though Sessegnon isn't bad either.

I saw this link in the Mirror. It stated that we were interested in 3 Portuguese players Ruben Neves CM, Cedric Soares RB and Gelson Martins WF.

Have to say I'm very happy with the links to Neves, far too good for Championship IMO. Lovely range of passing and still only about 21.

However, the agents and manager Portuguese comnection and promotion would make it highly unlikely they'd get rid of a prized asset.

I think they are looking at a long term project.

Martins is 22 I believe. Great pace, still looks a little raw. Certainly something to work with, but I have watched Sporting, along with numerous other matches in this league this season. Conclusion...

Seems a pretty mediocre league and Martins from what I've seen has looked nothing more than okay. Numbers regarding goals and assists not too shabby, will that translate against tougher opposition.

As for Soares...mmm. Not sure.

Do we really want to hook up with George Mendes? The other issue is that Wolves will be in Premier League, so getting Neves might be difficult.

Not sold on Soares at all, I would much rather have Trippier, Aurier, and KWP at RB. The only way I can see us picking up Soares is if Trippier or Aurier are sold. Hopefully Aurier and KWP have a good preseason and continue to develop.

mendes is using Wolves to develop his players. He'll be looking for bigger deals than we offer and I doubt Levy would deal with him. He'll want Neves in the shop window of the EPL.

Neves only started playing in England last summer. (y)

I know. What I'm saying is it's been a few years since there was a better player in the Championship. Maybe the phrasing can be read both ways but I would have thought most people would clearly understand what I was saying.

Oh...I understood. I'm just jesting mate. Spot on with your thinking IMO, way too good for Championship. Be interesting to see how he performs in Premier league.

Is Neves better than Onomah? It would be a crime if Onomah isn't given he's chance.
Which player almost won the Championship Player of the Season?

I like Onomah, but he hasn't done anything near as well as Neves.

Surprised to find Neves is a month younger but has played (for Porto and Wolves) twice as many games as Onomah.

I don't expect us to get Neves and hope Onomah gets a chance next season. However, Neves would be worth the risk. He looks like he could be special. With two Wolves fans in the family I'm conflicted.
