Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is set to run the rule over Crystal Palace starlet Victor Moses in a behind-closed-doors friendly this week.

Cash-strapped Championship Palace are desperate to sell striker Moses, 18, in January to raise funds.

After failing to offload the ex-trainee in August, Palace chairman Simon Jordan has dropped his £3million asking price.

And Palace are now willing to accept a £1m down payment with various add-ons.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who likes to buy British youngsters, is keen on a deal.

And a practice match between Tottenham and Palace has been penciled in for this week at Spurs’ training ground.

I dont see the harm in bringing this kid in, he can operate on either wing and would be good backup for Lennon seeing as how we really should just sell Bentley now so he can get his career back on track.

I think we should take them to tribunal again, let's see another repeat of the Bostock signing and that permatanned ponce Jordan red-faced and fuming at being ripped off again

err shall we not get bostock/rose playing before buying more any more lads who won't get a chance?

Lets get him if only to pi$$ off my brother who is still fuming about Bostock

Oh and he says that he is pretty tasty (in a footballing sense!).

I can't think why any young player want to join Spurs .

They need to be getting first team football .

"Jon Obika hit four as a young Spurs side defeated Crystal Palace 7-1 in a friendly match held at Spurs Lodge on Tuesday."

I would say it was more than penciled in.

We dont give any of the young players we have now a chance,so why buy more

They need to be good enough first !! ..... The players are out on to get the games they need, im sure with Arry`s record, if they are good enough they will play.
  9. tttcowan
Exactly... After whats happened with Gio, Bale and Adel I fail to see the point... It's actually unfair on the young players coming in and I end up feeling sorry for them.

Beat me to it. That really is shit. Does the article have an email addy with it? Would be rude not to send him the match report after all his hard work.

It's funny, people's attitudes - if a player hasn't nailed their place in the first team by age 18/19 everyone writes them off. Why do we do that?

The likes of Bostock, Parrett, etc are still only 17...!!!
  12. doom
and nowhere near first team standard yet - playing them will risk losing us points! putting them out on loan is the same situation for them so purchasing them is a no lose situation really. If they fail to make the grade they will be sold on for a similar amount.

They are getting first team football. All of them. They're all out on loan. For that exact reason.

I've seen Moses play on two occasions at length and I wasn't especially impressed. He reminded me a bit of Ryan Babel, in that he's fast and looked threatening, but showed bad judgment whenever he got the ball in an advanced position or ran at the defence.

Perhaps he's improved since then and that's why we got Bostock over a year ago and waited on Moses until now - assuming there's any truth in this at all.

A common problem with a lot of young, pacy players as we know from throwing Aaron Lennon in at the deep end at a very young age.
If he's got raw talent (woud you say he has?) I'd feel confident good coaching (and experience) would improve his final ball & decision making.
I wouldn't be convinced Neil Warnock is the ideal man to be in charge of young talent full stop; did that affect Bostock's thinking when he moved? Shall I stay & play for an up & at 'em manager or get some coaching?
  16. Boony
This is not Rooney & Fabregas, these are JUNIOR players... We are a top half premiership team with a strong squad so unless they can play 2-3 years above their expected level, they will not be getting in.

Where would you play them ? repalcing who ?

Sorry but what an absolute clueless comment to make.

So Moses is "fast" and "looked threatening" eh D.H.....maybe part of his natural talent and therefore potential? But he "showed bad judgement"......something that can surely be learned by playing games and coached? Your post more-or-less tells me we should hang on to this kid.

Irrespective of age, Spurs over the last five or six seasons have never let any youngster into the first team squad for any length of time. I am not talking about players like Lennon, Bale e.t.c. i am talking about players from our youth team set-up. Wenger and Fergie on the other hand have promoted players from within, who have been successful.

I can't ever see any of our current crop of promising youngsters getting a chance. It seems to me that when they do get an opportunity like in the Carling Cup for instance then unless they play a blinder they dissapear. At his age Harry wants success now, not by 2012 or whenever, so he's hardly likely to bring one of our promising youngsters through the gates at WHL. At West Ham he had no choice because he didn't have the funds that he now has at Spurs, but when you look at the talent he brought through, Lampard, Carrick, Cole and Ferdinand he managed them well.

If we sell Pav (and that looks 100% nailed on) then why not put Obika on the bench? I'd much sooner see him than another unhappy experienced striker being brought in?

    No ta Simon.

We'll take your wheat, but you can keep the chaff.
