    SPURS NEWS:

The Club has confirmed that it has decided to appeal against the recent FA charge of failing to ensure that our players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the match against Middlesbrough FC on 5 December.

    From the BBC:

Tottenham have joined Middlesbrough in requesting a hearing in an attempt to beat a charge of failing to control their players.

Both sides were charged following the brawl in their match at White Hart Lane on 25 November.
Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng successfully appealed against the red card for his part in a scuffle with Didier Zokora which sparked the brawl.

Boateng was sent off along with Zokora following a challenge on Aaron Lennon. <!-- E SF -->

Holland international midfielder Boateng had already been dismissed this season and faced a four-match ban before the decision was overturned.

Spurs boss Martin Jol said after the game that they would challenge the decision which saw Zakora sent off.

But after reviewing the incident he said: "At first I thought Zokora was unlucky to be sent off because he tried to prevent any trouble breaking out.

"I've seen it again now and I felt he probably deserved the sending off because if you are so far away from a situation and run in it does look aggressive.

"You then get a crowd of players coming together and you don't want that."

<!-- E BO -->Zokora was suspended for Saturday's 5-1 win over Charlton and will also be banned for Sunday's trip to Manchester City and the Carling Cup quarter-final against Southend.

The club have obviously thought long and hard over this appeal and I have to say I agree with the decision. You see minor fracas like this time and time again when Chelsea, Man U and Arsen*l play and they get away with it because the F.A. prefer not to 'antagonise' whenever possible these 'bigger' clubs.

Good to see us standing up for ourselves when it matters...
