Harry Redknapp is close to admitting defeat in his bid to sign £12million Brazilian sensation Sandro, but WILL go back for the player in January.

Spurs this week agreed a partnership link with the midfielder's Brazilian club Sport Club Internacional.

And Redknapp will try to complete the signing of Sandro in the next window after work permit problems scuppered the deal this time.

Redknapp is unable to buy David James from Portsmouth while Spurs have high earning keepers in Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini. But he may land midfielder Sulley Muntari from Inter Milan.

Of course the work permit will be a problem, we're not one of the big 4, they could sign a 35 year old Sunday league player and still get a work permit!

I don't get how Denilson at Arsenal got a WP and this Sandro fella cannot. Surely if Sandro is knocking on the door for the squad and if he's captain of the under 20's he should easily get one?

I recall an American player, Bobby Convey, who we couldn't get a permit for,who later played for Reading. It looks like someone in the Home Office work permit department doesn't like us. Whatever happened to Qu Bo?

this is a disgrace if true...take a look at other squads and they've got far, far lesser non-eu players than the brazil under 20 captain. Hell take a look at your next door neighbours or students who take most university places, waitresses, hookers etc we're awash, flooded, with non-eu people in the uk, yet when we want to bring in the brazil under 20 captain we can't!
