Spurs to keep faith in 'mentally scarred' Paulinho

If he was ever that good another top club would have gone and signed him...not us!

The 'top clubs' can't buy every decent player you know. However in Paulinho's case, I think you might be right. Although at the time it looked like a good signing. I guess sometimes you have to take a punt and see what happens!

Bale was crap with us for a while too... couldn't win a game with us. Something has happened to Paulinho and I appreciate what the club are doing if they really are resting him from physical/mental exhaustion but it has nothing to do with that thrashing - he had lost his form way before then and I think they only let in one more goal when he was on the pitch.

Even when he was "crap" with us - even though he wasn't, the whole team was playing awful at the time - he was still owning it up at international level having great games for Wales and making a name for himself.

Christ, they were 5-0 down when he came on weren't they?! If he's emotionally scarred, David Luiz will need a f**king straight jacket!

Brazilian footballers traditionally come to Europe for the money, most of them cannot wait to get back to Brazil. Hardly a recipe for dedication and commitment to the shirt.

Whatever has happened something is just not right with him. If the club think they can sort him out and make it work great. If not move him on as quickly and efficiently as possible and get someone in that will have a use.

I'm not making excuses for Paulinho but we should remember that he came to us straight after the season finished in Brazil and played straight through. Then he went to the World Cup. I got the impression he tried to avoid injury in the season leading up to the WC which pissed me off, but if he's getting a rest now I think it will do him good. Hope he comes back fit and ready to prove a load of people wrong.

For the love of God can everyone STOP using Bale as an example for players coming good.
He was an exception, not the rule.
Paulinho, Lamela, Erikson and anyone else who is in poor form are not all going to become the next Bale.
Agree with the rest of your post but I swear if I read one more ' well Bale blah blah I'll go f kin postal

Why are people so against Paulinho?

He scored quite a few goals for us last season, and I don't really see any of the current lot doing any better?

I would actually like to see more of him in the League. He is certainly no worse than Capoue or Stambouli, is he?

With respect Capoue & moreso Stambouli aren't afraid to put their foot in & I'm sure they're not frightened of getting hit when standing in a wall .... I hope Paulinho comes good too, only so we can sell him for a decent price. From what I've seen of him he's not for us (just my opinion). He may well shine in Italy or Spain but I personally don't think he'll make it in the EPL.

Paulinho has just been dreadful this season when he has played, regardless of the standard of the opposition There simply has to be something wrong with him, I have never ever seen a more lethargic player with seemingly no effort or energy. There is no way he is actually that bad. I'm not saying he is a great player, but there is clearly something wrong with him. His slide has been immense, from being one of the best players in the confed tournament to not being able to even get a touch on the ball or get about the pitch against some ordinary opposition.

People say 'give him a go' but we simply cant afford to have him on the pitch, he offers absolutely nothing, it is like playing with 10 men. I think he needs to be given a couple months off. Tell him to come back in January ready for the 2nd half of the season and we might see him improve. He has played a LOT of football in the past year and a half. He hasn't had an off season so to speak in 2 years.

I was really excited by his signing. So far it hasn't been the best deal in our history; but I saw enough of him last season to know there is a good player in there. He wasn't in a few squads recently maybe this was to help him with something not in the public domain? I hope he comes good and if not he gets a move and gets it together outside the EPL.

I don't think he has the motivation to come good.

Sell, cut our losses, and let him see out his days in Brazil or the big money shit leagues.
