Found this on Tribal...

Spurs, Portsmouth in for Southampton's Surman
tribalfootball.com - November 27, 2007

Tottenham and Portsmouth are tracking Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman.

The South Coast club are struggling financially since losing their parachute payments after being relegated from the Premier League. And they know a pack of top flight clubs are regularly monitoring their best players with England U21 prospect Surman interesting Tottenham and Portsmouth amongst others.

I know that it is Tribal which = poo, but I'd love this, Spursking style, to happen, I've seen the guy play and think he is amazing, really think he has the potential and would love Spurs to pick him up.

And he is a left sided midfielder, not a winger, but a LM.

Anyone else heard anything?

ok let me try again. surman will not improve our squad now OR in the future. he would be good at a team like derby or fulham and is not good enough for us

Let's get Etherington back and Bobby Convey while we're at it.

Don't rate him.

Wait for Rose - he'll be something special.

We've got Stud and bale anyway.

Tribalfootball

Well seriously, no need for him and I'm sure that Juande will bring proven player to our LM

good player as is Nathan Dyer from Saints also, both of them huge improvements over Zokora, Huddlestone, Boeteng, Tainio, Routledge and Malbranque IMO

Surman is a promising prospect, my best mate is a saints fan and i've seen him play a fair few times this season, he's a bit like s.Downing, a good talent and still young, certaintly wouldn't complain if we signed him, him and bale would make a sick combination in years to come.

You must be joking! Neither Etherington or Convey will improve our left wing. Wait for the right one instead and pay up when the time comes!!!

Jurgenthegerman over on COYS has also said 'we are apparently all over southamptons youth team' And mentioned something upon the lines of Southampton having money troubles and they could go under,
Not to sure about any of it though and haven't seen any of them play so will leave it for you boys to argue over

I don't think Pompeys are likely to get him cos of the rival part and the fact that the current manager of pompeys are Harry "The Don" Redknapp aka the guy who left soton to manage pompey.

I really think that Surman could cut it, he might be a bit lightweight but when he was 17 he was turning burly League 1 midfielders inside out, he has now started to prove himself in the Champ, scoring and assisting, and I was just saying that he would be someone that I would be pleased if we bought.

As I understand it he has dual nationality but hooked up with the England U21 recently, Pearce had been going to saints to watch him and dyer

Any player that invokes the term 'Spursking style" should be avoided at all costs. Frankly he should be deported.
