Former Tottenham manager Ossie Ardiles once held talks with Diego Maradona.

ok -- fair enough that we got Klin (post 1990 WC) instead of a Diego who was somewhat on the decline....but wow that would have been something to see. The real miss was the 3 flying Dutchmen who apparently almost signed pre Meelan

What a circus we were. Glad to be getting the right players now to build a team and not just the names.

If Maradona had signed for us we'd had to have changed the stadium name from White Hart Lane to White Powder Line

Ardiles knew what he was doing, he didn't want to embarrass him, he'd have been a sub for us.

Would have been an amazing signing can you imagine how many shirts we would have sold then and even now I would have loved to have his name on my shirt. But then we decided to get someone called kinsman who was not only a an amazing player but maybe the best player that ever wore a spurs shirt.

He hadn't just won the World Cup, he'd just come off a World Cup where Germany were abysmal. They won it 4 years earlier. Keep up, Teddy

Would of been nice to have him, just cos, well, Maradona at spurs!!! But his career was in rapid decline at that point, he was unfit and played only 30 odd games in three seasons after that, all in Argentina. Right decision in the end.

I'm sure the fact that he failed a drug test and was kicked out of the World Cup probably played its part. Considering he also ended up being banned from playing for 12 months, it was obviously the correct decision.

IMG_8079.JPG He did play for us once, and if he'd have joined us then we'd have finished higher than 3rd! Imagine him alongside Gazza and Waddle!

Pochettino was asked whether Messi is better than Maradona. He felt that once you'd seen Maradona play, there was no comparison. Maradona is the greatest footballer, ever. Forget about the past, why not employ him for a few sessions with our strikers and midfield.
