The secret footballer recently wrote that Caulker lacked aggression.
His biggest problem is he is very slow on the turn and never improved on this in result he struggles when he is one on one and often gets done.

Did he look stronger though? You can increase your strength a lot without adding much bulk, which is what you would want to do if you are playing a s a AMC, as you want to keep that agility and flexibility.
Short answer no but it was the first game so give it a bit of time.

Decentish midfielder, Martin Jol is said to have been thinking of trying Jacques out in the first team squad but never did

Was speaking to his father a couple of years ago and he said that Martin Jol had been planning to send him out on loan but then Jacques was injured and when he recovered, the opportunity had passed and it never happened. Jol was sacked and in 2009 he went on loan to Burton before signing for them in 2010

Guys,

I intend to do my best to get over next season to take in a game or two+ of the youth teams

Need some advce on the best way to get to the training ground, to see the youth teams play, if using public transport. Turkey St station appears to be the closest but are any others better alternatives, i.e. buses or cabs to the ground from any better served stations?

I'll be travelling in from Orpington and can get to Liverpool St, and Victoria for the Victoria line, pretty easily: ditto Stratford from the Jubillee Line or DLR. Have to say not looking so good as 2 hours plus time to/from T St in each direction.

Any help/guidance much appreciated! Apologies if this is the wrong place for this question

I was just looking through our fixtures and remembered this post.

Just had a quick check and if you don't mind not going to our training ground to watch a game and just want to watch our u18s play, it may be worth watching Chelsea (Cobham training ground) which takes an hour n half to get to, or watching Fulham (Motspur Park) which is only an hour from you. Both teams have good academies so they would be interesting games to watch.

Lion City Cup in Singapore being held between Aug. 14 and 16 (previously posted on this thread) for Spurs u15/u16's with Liverpool and two local teams. Then on to South Korea I think

I would guess the squad has already flown there - or maybe landing tomorrow. Provisional squad :

Official site it seems https://www.facebook.com/LionCityCup

Still nothing about it being televised sadly. Posted a few articles on us related to our youth. Haven't read them but some may be interesting. One mentions that we apparently still get our academy players to clean the senior players' boots to make well-rounded individuals

Really enjoyed the recent highlights of the U21s' destruction of Everton (we sure have abused them in recent years at this level haven't we?). Of course, Pritchard displayed his outstanding class, but once again I've come away really impressed with some of the things I see from Coulthirst. If that boy can learn to finish more regularly, I think there's still yet a chance of him making it here at Spurs. He just has absolutely killer footwork, and is lethal at earning himself space. I've enjoyed seeing his confidence grow and foster to manifest in the development of his ability and range of tricks, and I think if he can just learn to be a bit more consistent when he does earn himself that space, there's every chance he can yet be a Premier League attacker.

Why are we always playing Liverpool at youth level? They copying our development program or what.

Personally I don't see Shaq as being good enough to make it at Spurs - he has a great work ethic and does score goals. There are a few buts though, his overall awareness and bringing others into the game isn't always the best - he has also struggled when playing up front with a partner certainly at Southend and speaking to one of the Spurs scouts the other day he had the same problem at York. His finishing can be a little erratic though having said that he gets into decent positions. I also just wonder about his size he is not a tall lad and though he is handful for defenders with his aggression and movement, his height and lacking any killer pace is difficult for him.

I think with Shaq his big chance might have been this summer when our lack of forwards gave him an opportunity I

That's a valid point about our lack of forwards this term, but he is only 20 after all, there's still time for him to develop and round out some of his weaknesses.

As for the drawbacks you mention, I don't think they're as much of a problem now as they might have been say 10 years ago. It's no surprise he struggles with a strike partner, as those systems are obsolete and they're not what Shaq grew up in while with the progressive Spurs academy. He's grown up with entirely lone striker systems, while guys at York or Southend have only ever known 4-4-2, which is partially why they won't be playing in the EPL and Shaq may yet. Lone strikers must create their own space and capitalize on it, and Shaq does do that. He's not got ridiculous pace, but he's very well capable of making his own space with his quick feet, and it's the creation of space which is more relevant in the modern game, not specifically height or aerial presence as it would have been a decade ago (still important for the position, but no longer necessary). This brings us to the other cited weakness, height. As already mentioned, it's just no longer an absolute must, as long as he can create his own space and do something with it.

Why double barrel names so popular nowdays? In the old days, only aristocrats used them.

unmarried couples - so kids take both of their parents surnames. Its not the only reason of course but accounts for a lot of the growth

I don't think Coulthirst will make it here, but I agree with the above in that every time I have seen him play he is enthusiastic and will, to borrow 'Arry's legendary phrase, run around a bit. If the worst came to the worst and we didn't buy a striker though then I'd rather see him play in Cup/Europa games rather than one of our established players who too often cant be arsed in those games or don't have a future at the club.

Sorry if already posted. Interesting training vid with our youth squad...

Worrying that we don't make them practice with both feet more you would have thought McGee would be able to control and kick well with both feet, though we spent 30 mil on lamela who is very one footed. Wonder if McGee can use both well now? That will go to show how determined he is to make it.

In fairness to the lads, Luka Modrić is, for my money, the best central midfielder in the world but is outrageously one-footed.

Also, another Maghoma coming through! Mr and Mrs Maghoma must rate their chances of being well cared for in old age!
