Time for a late spring clean of the youth thread,to deal the outgoings and new Academy Year 1 after the old thread hit a new record of over 500,000 views in just under a year – about double last years, as was the number of posts and pages !

Nothing to do with Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason et al’s fantastic season of course.! :):):)

This is the old thread for reference http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-all-new-spurs-u21-u18-other-youth-news-thread.110644/

Anyway, enough of the reminiscences, this is a thread following Spurs u21’s, u18’s and other Spurs youth teams and news, the objective being both to enjoy the youth performances and to gauge which of the youth are likely to catch the eye of first team coaches. These are the players we are watching :

Likely loanees, first teamers etc – but may play a few u21 games :

Milos Veljkovic
(CB/DM), Dominic Ball (CB) (on loan at Rangers) ,
Harry Winks (CM/AM), Grant Ward (Utility) (on loan at Rotherham),
Kenneth McEvoy (RW), Nathan Oduwa AM/Fwd (On loan at Rangers)
Shaq Coulthirst (Striker/WF) (On loan at Wigan)

Sounds like Oduwa caught the eye in today's first team friendly behind closed doors - good that he seemed to be getting the better of a Championship side's defenders

Alex Pritchard? - not included, is he now 22 and ineligible?

Nice to see Oduwa doing well - I'm I right in thinking Onomah is considered the better prospect of the two?

I echo this, these threads and the effort that goes into them add so much to this form.

Poch has announced that Alex Pritchard will form part of the first team,, so decided that he was no longer sensible to include in the thread.

Onomah's a great prospect and probably right he got a first team debut last season ahead of a few others, but I think Oduwa plays in a position (mainly left sided forward but in theory can play any of the top 4 positions but I've never seen him play striker) where we are a little short in the first team and a good pre-season might give him a place in our EL squads - where I'm also expecting Onomah to get some more minutes

Was at the Posh friendly today. I feel that I know most of the youth players but still not 100% so could be slightly different personnel. From what I could tell I think we lined up in a 4-3-3:

1st Half:
Glover
Walkes Hall Ball Ogilvie
Lesniak
Miller Goddard
McEvoy Sterling Sonupe
2nd Half:
Glover
Walkes Hall Maghoma Ogilvie
Veljkovic
Amos Goddard
McEvoy Harrison Azzaoui

Sheldrick came on for Glover with about 15 to go and Paul came on for Hall with about 20-25 to go and went to RB with Veljkovic going CB and Walkes into CM.

Few comments on the players, if I've left players out it's because they didn't do much wrong. Just were pretty solid.

Glover had a good game, not much to do except a few saves and a couple of catches which he dealt with well.

Sheldrick looked very small for a keeper so don't know if we'll keep him on. Had one save to deal with.

Hall. Never impressed me and don't think he'll be with us much longer but he had a good game. Suppose that's to be expected against a League One side as he's played Championship football for the last few years

Maghoma. Really like the look of this guy, was pretty solid throughout and read the game well. Looks a bit weak but understandable considering he's only 17. Plenty of time to fill out and hope to see more of him over the next couple of years.

Lesniak. Think he's very inconsistent. Had a good game today screening the back four in the first half but other times I've seen him he fails to impose himself. Would like to see us give him another year or so but looks like we've released him

Miller. Tiny player but most good things in the first half went through him. Often played a lot further forward from the 'three' in midfield but was really lively and caused the midfield and defence a lot of problems

Goddard. Exactly the same as the above except sat slightly deeper in the first half but was given more freedom when Veljkovic and Amos joined him in midfield. My MOTM

Amos. Really impressed by this guy too. Tackled well, passed it at the right times and didn't look out of place at all. Despite his mistake for the goal, he was one of the better players in the second half. Hope he gets chances at a higher level this year

Sonupe/ McEvoy. Similar performances. Both got in behind their full back on a few occasions.

Azzaoui. Just generally looks a class above most of our attacking players, and theirs for that matter. Looks a natural on the ball and did extremely well to get his goal. Harassing the full back at the byline before nicking it and finishing well

Harrison. Think Alnwick could have got a stronger hand on his shot for the goal but was a decent finish from the edge of the box. Put himself about a bit but nothing special

Hoped the fullbacks would kick on a bit more and provide more of an attacking outlet but I can only think of a couple of occasions where Walkes got forward. Although, overall was impressed with the way we play and the pressing game Ehiogu has them playing. One downside was the morons in the crowd shouting "lump it forward" every time the keeper or CB had the ball. Some people really don't understand what this level is all about, just show some patience for the football they're trying to play ffs.

2 questions. Is the pitch artificial and who scored our second goal? My bad it was Assaoui.

I think Harrison first Assaoui scored the second sorry i posted after you corrected your post.

i was there too and definitely agree with goddard being the best player. one thing i'd note though is that sterling played up top with sonupe wide. considering this was a bunch of kids(missing our best) against a league one side then we did pretty well. obviously there aren't any stats available but i'd imagine we had probably 65% of the ball. i felt bad for amos screwing up, he was so frustrated with himself but personally that's something i'd rather see than a player just shrugging it off, he was pretty good on the whole bar that one moment.

Oops got Sterling and Sonupe mixed up. Will teach me for racial profiling . Couldn't quite see properly who gave the ball away for the goal. Thought it was Hall but will take your word for it being Amos. Likewise I think he was great so hope he doesn't dwell on it too much

Stupid question that's probably been asked already, is Joe Pritchard related to Alex?
