Pritchard sounds like he had a great game, has looked good whenever I've seen our youth play too.

Me too, he was the player that caught my eye the most when I watched the Inter home game at Orient. Got a very nice touch and style, think he will fit in very well in a central midfield 3 if he keeps up his development.

And look at the rave reviews Luongo is getting over at Ipswich, too.

Is he starting for them? He's also looked good when I've seen him, got a little 1st team action last season too. Looking forward to seeing what avb does in the europa league early stages this season. Hopefully a few of these kids might make the bench in certain games.

Our Under-19 team got off to a flying start in the 2012-13 NextGen Series on Wednesday night as they defeated Wolfsburg 3-2 at the VfL Stadion.

Facing a tough opening fixture, our lads settled quickly and dominated the early proceedings with Alex Pritchard going close in the 12th minute as his powerful strike zipped just wide of the right-hand post.

Despite our early pressure it was Wolfsburg who took the lead as Philip Hauck coolly converted from the penalty spot after Alex McQueen was adjudged to have upended his opponent in the box.

Alex Inglethorpe's side reacted positively to going behind and it was a real surprise that they went into the break with a one-goal defecit as first Milos Veljkovic forced a fine save from Carl Klaus in the Wolfsburg goal and then Souleymane Coulibaly twice went close.

Needing to push for the equaliser in the second half against a physical German side, Shaq Coulthirst was introduced from the bench and he made an impact within minutes as his deflected effort from outside the penalty area left Klaus stranded and brought the scores level at 1-1.

Dominant in the air all night, Spurs goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux made sure the scores remained level with a fantastic save in the 66th minute, making himself an imposing figure and saving with his chest at close range from Maimilian Arnold.

It was to be another substitute who would earn us a well-deserved lead.

Ruben Lameiras was introduced in the 75th minute and by the time the clock had reached 77 minutes he was on the scoresheet. Coulibaly forced a fine save from Klaus, however, Lameiras was the sharpest to react and volleyed the ball into the roof of the net to make it 2-1.

There was still time for the excellent Pritchard to find the net as his free-kick from 20 yards was too much for Klaus to handle.

Wolfsburg were able to pull back a consolation goal in stoppage time through Julian Brandt, however it was our lads that came out on top with a thoroughly deserved win.

The victory leaves us top of Group One with our next fixture against Barcelona at White Hart Lane on Thursday, September 13 - CLICK HERE for ticket details...

Spurs (4-2-3-1): Vigouroux; A McQueen, Ball (Ogilvie, 67), Veljkovic, Stewart; Gallifuoco (Coulthirst, 60), Dombaxe; McEvoy (Lameiras, 75), Bentaleb, Pritchard; Coulibaly. Unused subs: McGee, D McQueen.

Good news, OS confiirms iitial line up as posted above as 4231

Overall its a young squad, Stewart and Pritcharde are the only 2 overage players inn the squad, althoiugh Veljkovic, Stewart, Dombaxe, Bentelab, Pritchard, Coulibally and Coulthirst had some experienvce of NextGen last year. As the season evolves it may well be that some of the experienced players are replaced by younger players toi give them experience.

For this first game of the season there was a solid initial line up, except maybe at CB - as expected Dominic Ball (who I rate as a good CM) was subbed by Connor Ogilvie (standout defender in new academy Year 1 and its a captain) possibly because Oliver Modeste (the best defender in Academy Year 2 is still recoovering from a nasty non football head injury) was not available. Initeresting to see some of the younger lads brought in - and that Luke McGee (Academy Year 1 goalkeeper) was on the bench rather than Billy Granger (Academy Year 2).

Over time I would expect Darren McQueen to replace Alex Pritchard in NextyGen whilst Alex performs his magic at u 21 level, maybe Connor Ogilvie to become a starter as there is a shortage of good defenders in this age group - and other similar changes, However I expect the NextGen squad to remain strong, so this competition should remain interestring for Spurs.

Overall all the tweeters say the players played well, which is important at this level - and the result of a solid away win has to rate very highly in youth results.

Thanks to Windy for posting it on his Twitter account - a YouTube 'highlights' video of the U21s 6-4 defeat to Newcastle

Bofrok - thanks for posting.

All our goals were good, slick, footballing efforts.

But I can't believe our defenders allowed a four foot nothing geordie striker, who looks like he's 12-years-old, score with a header. Watch their first goal and be embarrassed.

I assume that's the much touted Adam Campell but even so...

Not great defending by either team in that video, looked like we had a centre back missing or something, and they ran right through our high line.

Anyone know who was playing? I'm hoping that was a young team, very young given the nextgens were in germany

Our team looks a young one. I wonder how we will handle all the different youth competitions

Not that young really, Miles, Ekong and Munns are the only ones who are absolutely nowhere near the first team, but we did lose Smith very early which may have affected our organisation, particularly as the bench was the same as for the U18 game.

The aim, rather than to put out the strongest team in each competition, seems, at least at development level, to give as many players opportunities as possible. With the exception of Coulibaly, none of the development players who were due to play in NextGen also played for the U21s on Saturday, though the youth team players in the NextGen squad did turn out for the U18s.

whichever midfield u pick from that list of starters, 4 man or 5 man midfield, its all slight skillful players, think mason would be the tallest and strongest out of them!

Anyone joining in the 1882 fan movement for the game against Barca on Thursday 13th at the Lane? Be cool to meet up with a few other SC'ers. Have we got a thread for this in the spurs chat?
