No idea - but I understood that Freund was in charge of u21's with a split brief to work also with the first team (often that's seen as a way to help youngsters get into the first team) but with Freund in the US with the first team, it would need a couple of coaches to deal with any Spurs X1 and/or u21 matches when he's away. I'd also heard that Brush might be off......but no news on OS as usual !
Makes sense to have Freund split his role, as you say good for any younger players progressing.

I suppose we will have to wait and see until the season starts and we get some match reports.

Oh no. I desperately want to see Pritchard given a chance here. That would be horrendously disappointing.
It's madness to think of selling the young players who are good enough for the first team, use him as a understudy to Eriksen in the free-role position, whenever Eriksen is injured or suspended put Pritchard in, he is not as good as Eriksen but he has the ability in that position to do something different, if we use him as a winger he will not make it because of the lack of pace and power you need in that role in the Premier League but this is Spurs and will end up getting it wrong by selling or playing him as a winger.

Won't say who, not because it's big news in the slightest, but because the club want to keep it quiet, and I don't want to drop anyone in it - but I've had it confirmed that the reason for the privacy is indeed trialists. The team was almost entirely made up of trialists. The first team are in America, and most the youth sides are in Belgium, so the team was trialists + a couple who don't fit either youth team or first team squad.

It's not just a case of the club not wanting the names released, but they also don't want any match details released so that it remains quiet who impressed. Don't want anyone poached!

Bit surprised that we had 'almost entirely triallists'.

The Academy are in Belgium (alnog with some u16's), but that still leaves the Professionals which will now include the old Academy Year 2 group plus Ball, McQueen, McEvoy, Lameiras, Ceballos, Coulthirst, Coulibaly - so probably about 18 -20 players between Academy and First Team (plus maybe Musa Yahaya). I'd have thought that most of these need game time

I could imagine a couple of triallists joining the Development squad - but not a full teams worth !

Not disbelieving your sourse - just surprised

Ceballos has been training with the first team so he is probably in Seattle.

The impression I got was 7 or 8 trialists. I suppose "almost entirely" depends on how many subs we made. If we made 11 at HT for example, almost entirely would be the wrong phrase. Apologies!

7 or 8 triallists is a lot - irrespective of the number of subs so no apologies needed.

He is in the exact same position he was a year and half ago, why not loan him to one of the top championship clubs who clearly wanted him

Argghhh. Kind of dumb news is this. One of our best academy players. Nominated for player of the season. Comes on for debut at end of last season. Looked forward to him being integrated. Loaned to Brentford. How anticlimactic. No wonder there was no news or pics of him they were too busy masterminding this great move

I'm disappointed we have sent him on loan, I was hoping he would get a chance with our first team for pre-season. That said, rumors are that we have a call back clause, so the thinking might be that we loan him to a championship club that will guarantee game time that and he will also be able to stand out more (big fish small pond) so in Jan we can recall him amid Prem loan interest and do a Kyle Walker.
