made a post in the spurs vs sounders game thread about some things i noticed at the open practice.

one thing i forgot to mention until i saw his name mentioned in this thread:
- velkjkovic seems like a big goofball, and he seemed like the life of his group (whenthe squad broke into a couple groups for playing keep away/monkey in the middle). he seemed genuinely very happy/confident and was laughing and smiling the whole time/generally boosted morale

I have never seen him outside of playing football and training pictures but I assumed he was a very strict guy seems to have quite a serious face. Nice to hear he is a bit of a joker and a morale booster

Ugo Ehiogu to be the new Sherwood?

Hadn't heard anything until watching the game on BT tonight when they said it as if it was common knowledge.

Ugo has been a part time coach at the Academy for about 2 years or so. It'll be news to probably all youth watchers that he's the new 'Head of Dvelopment ' - Big jump up - biut It maybe that he's a Development squad coach or the development squad coach and they TV guys got the job wrong.I guess we'll find out in due course

Im personally happy, Im sure the commentator said he is in charge of the development squad I saw that as being

McDermott being in charge of the whole academy
Then Ugo in charge of the U21's
Then Mckenna working with U18's and U21's

The Academy and u21's are seperately run (possibly because there are a lot of rules around academy players ie up to age 18), so MceDermott may not play a role in the u21's

IMO we need several coachyes looking after u21's not just one. Certainly bre happy for Ugo to be one of them but we probably need a more experienced coach as well - I thought Freund was doind a split first team/u21 coach so he would add the experience.

But IMO we may still need to add another experienced coach having lost Inglethorpe and Ramsey in successive years - although I like both Ehiogu and McKenna they not that experienced.

Im guessing one of poch's coach(freund or spanish coach) will be involved in the setup of the U21

I know what you mean but I think with McDermott overlooking the job the club feels they will be fine. Lets not forget 2 years ago Sherwood would be classed inexperienced if not more inexperienced than Ugo, though he wont have Ramsey by his side. However he will have mcdermott

What's that you say...you want several coaches just to look after Brad? :)
