I can't remember who told me but I remember hearing that our coaches believe that our u11s are more technically developed than our u14s were 4 years ago. I think it will be a long wait but hopefully we get 2 first teamers from the academy in the next 5 years. I think that's the best we can hope for.
Whats your definition of first teamers, as for two in the next 5 years it is likely we may have 2 from our academy next year tbh in our first 11 and possibly in our squad Townsend, Rose, Lennon, Naughton, Walker, Bale(he did get lost for a couple of years), Carroll and Luongo/Livermore(one will stay the other on loan), all except the last 2 have played a shitload of games as well for their young age

This is what I thought, I have heard of him (mainly in this thread) but know nothing about what he's about. Anyone ?
He did well in the Riga cup and he is with the U17's atm but iirc he fits in well with the smaller players we have at the moment iirc(I may have him confused tho)

Edit:I have got him confused he isnt tiny as I thought that was someone else lol

Chris Miller@WindyCOYS14m
This is why Jack Munns didn't play for our U21s yesterday- he's on trial for Birmingham U21s tonight vs Leeds: http://www.bcfc.com/news/article/u21s-travel-to-leeds-734886.aspx … #Spurs

Chris Miller@WindyCOYS17m
Birmingham insist that they're just having a look at Munns in competitive action - no hint of either a perm or loan move 'at this stage'.

Maybe we are trying to line up a loan move for him for next season, sounds a bit early, but why not ?!

Who the bloody hell is Harry Winks?

Central midfield player in Academy Year 1, first came to most youth followers notice when he was voted 'Best Midfielder' in the u 16 Riga Cup 2012, followed by Milk Cup 2012 and has made a few appearances for u 18 and more recently the u 19 NextGen Series, starting against PSG - the latter meaning that he os playing well above his normal age group. Oh and AVB seems to have spotted that and Harry has been training with the First Team http://www.tottenhamjournal.co.uk/t...a_no_excuse_culture_for_young_stars_1_1991876. so someone obviously appreciates him !

Think he can act as DM as well as more advanced up the field to AM. Seems to get good marks from most of the youth watchers. Lerts see how he develops.

Agree with the rooney comment - see my post above.
I did not exclude livermore because i dont rate him. i just forgot about him, which is probably because i dont rate him, not intentional.

Your next point about AVB is one that i have made myself. It is an easy excuse though, he's not going to suddenly be under less pressure next season, or the season after. If anything, doing well this season will put him under more pressure to keep it up next season. However i think we agree in sentiment, i have been disappointed at times with his lack of trust/use of our younger players when they seem to be doing so well, and hope that he manages to include them more in the future - which i am sure he will.

Poor old Jake :) I hold the minority view that he is acceptable as a squad player, and I don't see the sole role of the academy to be restricted to producing 1st team players. I prefer to think of it's role as to produce 1st team players, squad players and players to sell for a reasonable amount.

It is all about opinions, and yours is as valid as mine (WHAT?), but I wouldn't see it as an excuse, but a (guessed) explanation as to why AVB has been a little shy with the yoof. And he may be under increased pressure next season, but he will also have had an extra year, and pre-season, to get to know both the first team squad and the yoofs, and is not likely to have lost possibly the three top performers (with horrible injury list), and the press baying for his blood like at the start of this season.

If we get to January next season and there is little sign of the yoofs being more included I will be more disappointed than I am ATM.

Great to see our youth teams doing so good. Dominating at such a young age breeds winners, so maybe we will witness generations of players that have that winning mentality coming through.

Agree totally but I hope if this were to happen that unlike KPB we could sign them back

Yup.
I did initially type sell on clause, but when back and added the buy-back clause to it. It is fine to have a sell-on clause and get a few quid extra, but what do you do if you keep one player for a position and allow another to leave, and the former doesn't come on as expected and the latter excels expectations. If he is sold for £10 million, for instance, and we have a sell-on clause for 20%, I'm sure Dan Levy would appreciate the added £2 million. But if he is genuine top 4 quality (or better), I would rather have a potentially £15 - £20 million player, for a fraction of the price, than £2 million, ta (y)

Firstly i agree that the signals are very positive.
I am still really cautious due to our poor ability to integrate our youngsters into the first team. I personally don't think we can count walker, bale, lennon because they were all bought in relatively late in their development. Caulker is the only one who i can think of recently, but even he spent most of his time on loan.

Are there any stand out players below the age of 18? I mean someone you would really expect to be pushing into the team in the next 2 years? or do we have a generally strong youth squad?

I think there's a bit of a hierarchy of categories so for me a youth product is:

1. An U21 player who begins in the academy and makes it through to the first team.

Then there's two sub-categories:

1a. A youth player who we developed in house from under 17 (that's obviously an arbitrary age which I picked to illustrate the point)
1b. An U21, over 17 player we bought in from a rival.
