Can we bring out a "DVD" of their factory being bulldozed.

F them.

Send in the machines!!

Whilst being narrated by Danny boy, who, just before the video footage is shown, is seen sitting by an open fire wearing a dark gold robe with spurs slippers, gently stroking his pet sausage dog that's sitting in his lap, with a glass of brandy on the table next to him.

Have I thought about this too much?

Presuming that Spurs and Arseway don't reach a private settlement beforehand (with the intention of us getting the bulldozers in more quickly and Arseway getting a teeny bit more cash than the value of a CPO sale), does anyone know how long the CPO process takes before we get the keys and show the Josifs the door?

Lads I've always been embarrassed to ask but....why were Archway so determined to be the one business to stop us? Why were they so obstinate?
Greed, They knew they were slap bang in the middle of a £400million stadium and with numbers like that they just thought they could make a killing,
The wheel really turned against them when Tottenham went up in flames and the project exploded into a great new government supported regeneration project and Haringey council waded into the fray, they should have relised the landscape had changed and that they were now standing against the local community, they should have known the game was up then but just couldn't give up the dream of easy riches.

By the way, I've just watched the scene in I Robot where he goes to Profesor Lanning's house and the Demo-bot tears it to shreds and couldn't help seeing it as the Archway building, awsome.:)

Nice scenario, but I think it works better without the word 'dog'.

Realistically, how big a contract would that be? I'm guessing £20k maybe?

Their bargaining chip was saving us 2-3 years of hassle and lawyers fees, which they didn't use.

Even still, I don't blame them for being irrational.

You don't work hard building a business, only to have someone else force you move. In any usual situation, that would be fundamentally unfair.

But there's a housing shortage and regeneration agenda, so the law is on our side. Even still this is driven by money not regeneration.

If we wanted to build a stadium, we've owned enough space to build it 5 years ago. But we couldn't make it viable. So the Council and Mayor's office have bent over backwards to make it so.

We needed the master plan designed this way so we can make enough money out of flats, supermarkets, and colleges - to finance part of the build (clever from our point of view).

And that's the real reason they are moving.

Good luck to them.

I actually completely disagree with a lot of that.

Especially if your business premises has ZERO reliance on its location for footfall purposes. The business is still the business no matter where its premises is. If they have a book full of customers and a product or trade to provide, that is their business.

No sympathy I'm afraid.

To be honest.

Fair play to Mr Levy.

Now what does he do?? Naming rights is a problem to be sorted.

I'd like to see a new stadium starting to emerge soon. Cos I'm getting old!! And I'd like to go to the new home soon.

But over and above that I have never seen a football club trying to regenerate a whole area of deprived London like THFC have tried. But then that's Spurs I suppose.

Naming rights is sorted isn't it? I thought it was claimed in the court documents as being in place already?

It was actually counsel for Archway who claimed that Spurs had already agreed a naming rights deal. Spurs' counsel denied it.

That said, even if Spurs haven't yet agreed a naming rights deal, I suspect that they could do so tomorrow - if they chose. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have a number of options already on the table.

Bullshit, 77 business amicably relocated but we always had an issue with just one. :finger:

Is that ITK or supposition? I've heard it suggested that some businesses reluctantly moved rather than fight the might of a big company, bulldozered into moving in fact.

As per the 'Court' thingy you're talking about, it was covered ages ago in the Stadium thread

Ironically, spoke about it with ]@prawnsandwich at the time, but seems to have forgotten it...[/B]

The court reference of C1/2015/0115 refers to the fact that it was due to take place in Court 1, on the 15/01/2015. That was the original appeal hearing date which was postponed.

Hence, that court entry is still only a reference to that which we already know - also it's why it say it's been dealt with and dismissed, as per:

And I've “heard it suggested” that all landowners were delighted with the terms offered, and moved very willingly - with smiles on their faces in fact.

Yup. Its not like Archway is the local jerk chicken joint, relying on its regulars/passing trade of a large afro-carribean community. Their business model can trade from any location, it's a factory. In fact, having a factory in Tottenham given the congestion/accessibility might actually impact more negatively on logistics than having a facility further out.

It was madness from the beginning.
