I thought the second half was the best we've played so far this season. Regardless of the defeat, I think that performance will kick start our season now... from a performance POV of course, we have actually won 5 out of 7 games in the league, in case some people hadn't realised...
If we beat Cardiff on Saturday (which we bloody well should), it will be 6 wins from 8 in the league, having only played 3 matches at "home". Considering we are supposedly in some sort of crisis currently, I'm pretty happy with that.

We need Dele, Eriksen, Vertonghen and Dembele back fit and firing after the international break. I think having Skipp and KWP on the bench yesterday showed just how threadbare our squad is with a few injuries. If we don't look at this in January, we wont last the season.

why didnt wanyama follow the greatest player of all time which would have stopped him scoring his first?

Jesus pal, smoke a joint ffs!

We’re in a bad run of form and missing key players through injury.

If we did nothing in the summer then what chance is there of anything in January when prices will be even higher for players that clubs will not want to let go it makes no sense.

That's fine, as long as they realise we are going to be royally fucked come February/March when fatigue and niggling injuries set in amongst the squad because they've each had to play 30-35 games already.

We can't even make it to November without losing the core of our squad, no way we'll manage a whole season. Surely Levy can see this now. *cue optimistic ratings

If we don't move into the next round, and in all likelihood we won't, I think we should concentrate our efforts to get top 4 in the EPL to qualify for the CL again next year. Hopefully Levy should realize that we really need strengthening and does accordingly in the summer.

It’s the same “mob” time and time again who post multiple times after a loss, saying basically the same thing over and over again, who you never hear a squeek from when we play well.

I understand the frustrations, even agree with some, but the self entitlement driven rhetoric that some come out with on here is extraordinary.

Some may feel that venting is cathartic, and it probably is, but do it once rather than bore the pants off everyone repeating the same tosh multiple times.

So what we do every year?

The majority of which have been played away from home.

Think you are being harsh on trippier.
I agree that kwp should be given more of a chance but throwing him in last night would have done more harm than good for him and the team imo
I'll just have to agree to disagree here.

Well they should of realised that in August when it was apparent that buying absolute zilch would be a fucking stupid idea but maybe they will review it in the summer if no CL football is secured they might conclude that it is best to strengthen your squad.

Over 82k last night with a huge amount of empty seats in the Barca end

I wonder if we'd have beaten the previous attendance record had their section been full

Also with so many empty seats in the Barca end does this mean they are not a very big club in the great scheme of things

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Man U would never have empty seats like that in their away end. I was actually shocked how little support they had last night. Seemed a really tin pot turnout for a supposedly giant club!

We know who the bedwetters are on here mate, I'm used to it.

Just be glad that when we win and play well they disappear ;)

Lloris with another case of a big game blunders. Sometimes I wish he would save them for the lesser teams

I think our team is not ready to contender in the UCL, the issue in the central midfield is too much of a problem.

If Pochettino wasn't so stubborn about Europa League, I could see us doing like Atletico Madrid last season.

I’m not willing to criticise any one player or member of coaching staff for losing this game (despite some individual errors) against a truly elite side.

I’m more than willing to admit that this is a team moving backwards for the first time since Poch arrived, and it’s all down to those sitting at the top table who have neglected their duty to appropriately invest in the squad.

context - if they did they'd have covered the issues with a bigger squad. Injuries are part of the game.

Barcelona is Barcelona. Unless we had Man City strength and depth we had very limited chance of getting anything out of that match with Messi in that kind of form. Buying Grealish and De Jong in the summer wouldn't have automatically meant we earned the right to roll over one of the best teams in the world.

What is it you can't get through your skull? My fears and criticisms of our side have come from all of the games this season. NOT just based off last night.

That said, last night showed again we are a side lacking in confidence and rhythm, hopeless in central midfield and at the back. As we've seen all season.

As good as Barcelona were, we were just as bad. It's all so easy to use injuries as an excuse. What was your excuse for Liverpool at home? Or the terrible defensive performances at Newcastle away? First half at old Trafford?

Fact is we are nowhere near as good as we were last season based on current and recent evidence. That is called regression.

What does 'it was never 3-0' got to do with your irritated response?
