I'll accept there was an alement of good fortune in the first goal, I will qualify that by saying you make your own luck, had Harry Kane not attacked the box running towards the front stick the keeper would have been able to deal with the cross on its own but because Harry was there he had to cover the front side of the goal, by the time it became clear Harry wasn't a threat he realised the true danger but it was too late for him, he was in the wrong position and couldn't get back.
There was no element of fortune for the second goal, Eriksen played in the low ball and Son attacked the front post got down to flick the ball goalwards with his head, when you do all that it is not fortunate when it goes in, it is unfortunate when it doesn't.
Also we could have been further ahead if Brighton weren't so fortunate with rebounds from saves and posts which never fell to a Spurs player.
We had a rather poor game yet overan them throughout the match, Lucky My Arse!

Between that goal, and the own goal against Stoke, I hope our players realize that good things happen when you take risks in the attacking end. Sometimes I think we look for the perfect ball, when simply a good ball into the box would do. Put the ball in the box often enough, and defenders will make mistakes and goals will happen.

The Rose/Davies argument is pointless, both players are capable of doing things the other isn't. Also Rose has just come back from a long injury so to make an absolute statement whether one is better than the other is nonsense, be happy that we have two of the best left backs in the league at the club ;)

I agree with you and I am happy that we have 3 fantastic fullbacks. I disagreed with the anti Rose comments as I think using stats like that doesnt' tell anymore of the picture than me isolating a period of time to state that Wes Morgan is better or on par with Jan Vertonghen. I dont agree with the people who want Rose shut out of oportunities, I think the use of both of our left backs is understandable. I also dont believe that pundits or top clubs chasing Rose paints the full picture either though I tried to use that to balance the discussion.

Wasn't the most entertaining game to watch. Like most of the non-top 6 teams to play at Wembley, they put ten players behind the ball and choked out the space. It's very clear how much we struggle to break this down. And last night wasn't helped by the fact that you also had players who weren't having good games (Winks, Eriksen and Kane). I'd also like to add that I was mildly disturbed by Brighton's total lack of attacking ambition. Even after being a goal down. Yes, we've had some bus parkers this year, but it felt like they had the occasional foray in attack. But Brighton... wow. Very few times have I seen teams play that defensively... even when losing. Made for a very boring game.

I'm not sure what has happened this year. We didn't struggle this badly last year against teams that parked the bus. We've improved against teams that come at us but gone backwards against these teams. I know several players are badly out of form but it can't be just that.
I think that we have to accept that at our peak last season we had Wanyama, Walker and Toby in our starting 11. Thats 1/4 of team missing so to be where we are is a testament to the depth of our squad. You can throw Rose in there and Llamela as well as being sorely missed.
Frankly I find myself wondering just wtf is going on injury wise as it wasn't long ago we went virtually a whole season with no injuries at all and now we seem to have people out for 6 bloody months at a time if we're lucky. Are they growing clones in a lab ffs?
Edit I know Walker left before some smartarse points out the obvious.
Edit. And we are away from home every game no matter how used to it we get. Theres no place like home. Shit thats deep.

We lost HK for two spells last season, one was about 8 games I think, then we lost Verts for a good while and
also Lamela was out for 6 of the remaining months. Then Rose wasn't too good either.

I don't think we lost while HK was out, just drew a few which may have hurt in the long run.

Yeah we had a few last season. I'm thinking 2015/16 where we didn't get many. But Kane wasnt out for that long.
I cant remember us ever having so many of our best players all out for such lengthy periods.
