Both sides are already sure of a UEFA Cup Round of 32 place, but FC Dinamo 1948 Bucuresti coach Mircea Rednic wants to wrest top spot in Group B from Tottenham Hotspur FC in London.
    • Tottenham ensured their progress with three successive wins – 2-0 at Beşiktaş JK, 3-1 against Club Brugge KV and 1-0 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Now, a draw or better against Dinamo would see the finish atop the section.
    • After winning their opener 2-1 against Beşiktaş, Dinamo drew 1-1 at Club Brugge and confirmed their qualification with a 2-1 win against Leverkusen. A win at White Hart Lane would see them claim top spot in the section.
    • The side finishing top of the section is guaranteed a tie against one of the third-placed finishers from another group in the draw for the Round of 32 on 15 December, while each pool runner-up will meet one of the third-placed finishers from the UEFA Champions League.
    • The two sides have never met in European competition.
    • Rednic has some experience of English opposition from his playing career. His Romania side drew 0-0 at home and 1-1 away against England in qualifiers for the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
    • Rednic was also a member of the Dinamo side that lost 3-1 on aggregate against eventual winners Liverpool FC in a 1983/84 European Champion Clubs' Cup semi-final.
    • Veteran Dinamo striker Ioan Viorel Ganea also knows a bit about English football having spent two-and-a-half
seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC prior to moving back to Bucharest in the summer.
    • Tottenham have played four games against Romanian sides, both of them two-legged ties in the course of their
    triumphant 1971/72 UEFA Cup campaign.
    • The Londoners overcame AFC Rapid Bucuresti 5-0 on aggregate in the third round and then defeated FC UTA Arad 3-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
    • In total, they have won three games and drawn one against Romanian sides, winning one and drawing one at home.
    • Dinamo have played English opposition on ten occasions in the course of five two-legged ties in UEFA competition.
    • In total they have won one game and drawn one with the English side triumphing on eight occasions.
    • In Romania, they have lost four times, but were triumphant in their most recent game against English opposition,
beating Everton FC 5-1 in the first round of the 2005/06 UEFA Cup.
    • In addition, Dinamo met Liverpool FC in the 1970/71 Inter-Cities' Fairs Cup, losing 4-1 on aggregate. The Fairs Cup was not a UEFA competition.
    • Leverkusen play Beşiktaş in Matchday 5's other Group B game.

  1. Captain Spur
Come on Spurs get the right result so we can avoid the Champions league drop outs!
  2. Tricky
They beat Everton 5-1 last year - YIKES !
  3. Captain Spur
Yep there no mugs, we'll have to perform to get a good result. Hopefully home advantage will help us through.
  4. Zootman
In the knock out stages, if we play to our capabilities we can beat all the teams who are in the UEFA Cup before the Champions League drop outs came into the equation.

What 3rd place Champions League teams are now in the UEFA cup who we should be concerned about ?
  5. Kamikaze
Several look OK but no one will want to be drawn against Werder Bremen, Benfica or CSKA Moscow...all good teams who have given Engliish opposition a run for their money.
  6. twiglet
Anyone know any threads showing this game??
