he should have taken it around the keeper who had already commited himself to rushing out.

His failure to pass to jenas though is more inexcusable.

As previously mentioned, it was certainly excusable! The poor guy is trying too hard, with a cool head he would have done both. I'm sure he knows he hasn't won over the fans yet, which is a shame because we should support him first and give him the benefit of the doubt. Doing that would make take a lot of pressure off him and we'd see the results.

The main problem is that Bent is best when playing in a counter-attaacking team. Most of his goals for Charlton came from counter attacking balls over the opposition back four for Bent to run onto. Unfortunatly, we are a possession-led team in general and like to control the game. When opposing teams sit deep against us it renders Bent's play useless. He is a good player, but he's not a good Spurs player.

interesting idea, hadn't considered that.
i wouldn't yet say though that he's not a spurs player as he is still settling in, whilst he is a fantastic finisher, when he has confidence and has been playing regularly.

until then however, i don't think you can say otherwise, but an interesting idea nonetheless

I'm not a big fan of Defoe, and that chance he had to make it 3-1 where he had all the time and space to score but instead blasted the ball straight at the GK really sums up the major reason why he's my least favorite of our strikers.
