Where is Kaboul? Is he injured?
  5. sebo_sek
Why did Jenas come off? injury?
  6. SorrellSpurs
My streaming is fine...no probs whatsoever. Defense looks very flimsy along with the centre of midfield.

    villareal 1 - 0 spurs.
They cut us up nice and clean.
  8. 2bearis2do
His pager went off when he fell down - Middlesborough want him - hopefully off tonight.
Same might happen to Hutton - possibly the worst player to wear a Spurs shirt in recent history.
  9. 2bearis2do
I often go to Iraq and watch things on their goals site.

    Where's Pav, Modric, Palacios, Kaboul.
This squad is so second string, I wonder why set up such high profile friendlies at all.

We look a bit short on players ATM

Oh dear, our defence looks very weak tonight.

I cant see the logic of playing those players together
    Hutton , Jenas ?

I thought Rose, when he came on, Kranjcar and Naughton played pretty well, but as a team we're being completely outclassed.
It's just a different brand of football to the one we're familiar with here and it's the brand that won the World Cup and the European Championship.

It doesn't really matter how well we play our own game when we play a side like this, because our own (English) game is looking more and more obsolete.

They all play the same way: I've recently watched Barca, Spain, Spain U19 and now Villarreal. One can scarcely tell the difference. The passes are not bounced approximately toward the player, they are glided precisely in the right direction. The receiving player doesn't let the ball jounce or judder off him and then control it, he receives it and directs it with no fuss or difficulty. The opponents can't get the ball two thirds of the time and, when they can, the defences of these teams are all completely impervious. Any attempt at a cross bounces off a defender. Any man heading for the ball gets closed down before he can control it. There's no space anywhere near the box and apparently no way to pull defenders out of position.

It's not a Spurs thing. It's a new kind of style. You can like it or not, but English teams are very rarely going to win a game against it. Or even score a goal.

    Villareal 2 :(

Despite it being a friendly - the same observations persist...
Hutton is aful - I think he's missed a tackle in the last 4 goals we've conceded.
    Jenas is Anonymous - Who?
Keane and Defoe do NOT work well together.
I´ll be glad if we lose if it shakes up the management a little.
We're desperate for top class striker and to play two up front who work.
Where is Pav by the way?
Season is just two weeks away and to date we've not fielded a working center back pairing, a working forward line or a central mifield partnership that clicks.

La Liga starts 2 weeks after EPL, so logically Villareal could be expected to be about 2 weeks behind Spurs in preparations - yet the difference in keeping and using the ball, technique and movement between their players and ours is embarrassingly noticeable. Is it a coincidence that 8 out of 10 outfield Spurs players are British? Apart from Huddlestone, the rest have not shown much awareness and skill in using the ball.

I'm afraid if even players like Danny Rose will always be ahead of players like Giovani in our current manager's eyes, there may lie a problem. BTW, Rose per se played not too badly in comparison with others, making one good cross from the left for Defoe.
I am talking about the possible tendencies here.

So basically Villarreal are playing football the way anyone with half a brain would have tried to do it since the dawn of time?
