Curtis Davies insists he's happy at West Brom.

Tottenham Hotspur returned with a fresh bid for the Baggies skipper last week and with clubs like Arsenal, Villa and Newcastle all monitoring the England Under-21 defender, Albion look set to force the price up.

But Davies told the Sunday Mercury: "There will be a transition this month with at least one player coming in already.

"The squad we've got is good enough to go up and we don't want to lose too many.

"I'm under the impression that I'm not being sold and that's what I was told when I signed my new contract.

"When the window comes around I keep getting asked what will happen. I always say it's out of my hands and I'm not going to scream and shout about it if I don't get a move."

Man City reject cheeky Spurs bid for Distin

Manchester City have thrown out a cheeky offer from Tottenham for defender Sylvain Distin.

The Times says Spurs failed with a bid of £500,000 for Distin, who is off contract at the end of this season.

West Ham have also rejected a £4.5 million offer from Spurs for Anton Ferdinand.

Everton seek loan deal for Tottenham's Davids

Hold up, where there does Davies say anything about being happy to stay? Which incidentally I'm sure he wouldn't be too bothered at all if he did stay, he's hardly gonna start sayin he'll be devastated if he doesn't get a move and the really interesting quote here is this one...."I always say it's out of my hands and I'm not going to scream and shout about it if I don't get a move."

So in other words, Its up to West Brom if they wanna accept a bid for me, I'll happily head back to the prem but if it doesn't materialise then I can live with staying here and carryin on.

Yep thats how I read it too.
  3. Duff
I think we need this guy, Dawsons attitude and performances have been well below par this season
  4. sebo_sek
    WHAT?!!!
Considering that he's had to step up to be the leader of the defense block as King is absent more than being present, Id say that this very YOUNG defender is doing tremendously. The CB's have had to back up the FB's a lot too, so saying he is below par is simply ludicrous.

Dont expect the wolrd. He is still learning and if you start chipping away at his confidence, then you will reap the consequences.

"Dawsons attitude and performances have been well below par this season" - I'm guessing that you watch our games on teletext?

With that comment by Duff, i think it shows how unintelligent some of our spurs fans and i use the word "fan" loosely are, what a ridiculous thing to say you idiot!!

In general , the sort of players we need to be signing are those who stay and see the job through till the end of the season , not those who move half way through it .

If there isn't a name for this holding out for an inflated price by a smaller club seling to a bigger or richer club when negotiating the sale of an average to good player who is not a world beater I hereby give it a name....The Ambramovich effect.

Chelski are constantly held to ransom for stupid prices on ordinary to good players, we did it to Manure with Carrick and now West Brom are trying it on with Davies. I know there are more examples too.

Just one question who do I copyright my new phrase??????

Centre half is aposition that one has to grow into, experience is an immense advantage.

Considering that all of the centre halves on Tottenham's book are under 26, King, Dawson, Gardner, Davenport, Dervitte (?), Huddlestone (if he can play there, as I hear he can)...

We are alright for centre halves in my book. The critical question is, when are we going to sort out our left side? This is key to Tottenham - Lee and Assou-Ekotto are not perfect, but they are good players who need the appropraite man in front of them.

You're getting yourself a bit of a reputation for making one-liner statements that are exceeded in their negativity only by their idiocy.

'Nuff Duff, for me at least.

I'm not suprised that this is how Duff sees the situation a couple of days ago he said he hopes mido stays injured!!!!!!!!

    What a twat he is!!!!!
  12. paxton_soul
nonsense of the highest order, a real flat-earther comment - do you actually watch football Duff.
  13. adamsilver
Do you think that he could be winding us up?

Im not sure I was just posing the question...

Let's remember last season was Dawson's first full season in the premiership. He excelled himself and has probably become a victim of his own success.

I think Dawson has at times this season been stretched and left himself exposed. I think this has been a result of not getting the best out of King due to his injury, therefore Dawson needing to step up in this instance. For this you can in no way question his attitude, as he probably has the best attitude at the club. Question? Has he not been concussed twice this season for putting his head on line whilst on duty? I remember him saying afterwards that he'd do it again as long Spurs don't concede. You can't therefore question his attitude.

The boy is still learning. He's commitment personified and a future Spurs Captain!

Everyone's got their right to speak, so i guess we can't stop Duff from voicing his opinion. I do believe he is right in one aspect, Dawson's appearances of late have not been of a high standard. It seems like he loses his head sometimes when he can do simple stuff. I noted it 3 times against cardiff:
    1) When he ballooned the ball into the stands for a corner kick, totally without pressure from Cardiff
    2) We never had a straight line in defence, and he should control this line.
    3) He mis-hit his passes once again. Once he actually made a dribble to the half-way line, so that he could pass the ball straight to a cardiff player.

To be honest, i believe Davenport is almost as good, and Gardner would be the better one of the pack if he can stay injury free from now on..

Still, i wouldn't question Daws' attitude... no problem there.

Although he's a good young prospect he's only had 1 prem season and did ok but with the squad we have as back up to ledders and daws i really think we need some experience to come either first or aswell if were going to carry on in all the cups, especially europe, this season.

If the unthinkable happened and daws and Ledders were both out then we would be in big trouble, even with Curtis Davies in the team.
  17. StokeSpur
I just think Duff dosnt word what he means properly, i kinda know what he means regarding Dawson.

Look, we all know what we have in Dawson, he's not cultured or pretty, he's like a young Terry type, brave, raw, no nonesence, for me he hoofs it long too much but thats the type he is, beside him we have one of the best who can play the ball out as good as anyone, cool calm and collect, they are both each others oposite and complement each other.

Dawson = not pretty, rough round the edges but love his heart and spirit, will get better and better.

I reckon Duff is a Toon fan or disgruntled Chelsea fan, all his comments on this and other posts have been ridiculous.

    Just ignore him :duh:

Regarding Davies, no-one is happy playing in the Championship when they could be in the Prem League.

Regarding Dawson, he's a very good defender who does need someone alongside that can lead the line. When he has that support alongside him (ie Ledley) he is excellent. He needs more experience to lead the line himself but he is doing an admirable job.

    Regarding Duff, he's a cock.
