I don't know if I am alone but I am not impressed by the Dortmund fan's noise, most of it is just the drums and it is all very sterile in spite of the volume. The whole point is to get behind your side and lift them but it went bum diddy bum diddy bum bum bum and when they got a corner in the last minute of the first half and nothing changed, any other supporters would have sent up a roar to drive on their team and nerve out the opponents.

Totally agree. I used to think the noise from European teams was intimidating and inspiring - now I just think its mindless, passionless and fucking annoying. Get involved in the actual game you fucking Orcs.

Tie.

Over.
Got a few sceptical ratings for this view. @Fidget @gp13tot @Giovanni @jonnyrotten

What do peeps think is going to happen in the second leg?

There is no way we should not be going through against an all-out attacking team like this who will have to come at us bonkers nuts from the off.

They already play super open.

We should be setting up a tactical 11 to neutralise their game and counter hard and fast.

Losing this this tie would take immense incompetence.

If we score an early goal, it would deflate them as they’d then need to score at least 5 goals to go through to the QF, so I think they might be wary of our counter attacks and resist playing the high line.

Personally, I would go all out and hammer the ****s... id play all our attackers including Kane, id have the wing backs or whatever theyre called nowadays flying down the wings from the start...

They will need to attack so let them attack, but that will leave so much space for us to get a couple of goals and beat them when theyre down

Agreed completely.

But I'm also old enough to remember Utd and City pissing over us after being 3-0 up. This is Spurs, anything and everything does happen.

Dortmund have to their credit beaten Athleti 4-0 this season. I agree with you that if we set up right this won't happen but it would be extremely arrogant, something us fans have been guilty off in the past to rule them out entirely. The tie is 95% done but spurs love to live in that 5%.

We will set up to counter. It's one thing to build to a 4-0 win, it's another altogether to know you have to score four from the start. We are superbly tooled to play on the counter with the players we have, and Dortmund will know this.

We just need to do what we did to Dortmund in the home tie when we played them in the group stage. We soaked them up and hit them hard on the break. Son's pace will scare them and there will be loads of space for long balls in behind.

Old school Poche 4231 with full backs mainly tasked with defending but Dier there to drop in when they go forward. Lucas and Son either side of Kane for deadly pace on the counter and a well-earned rest for Moussa.

Lloris
Aurier
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose
Dier
Winks
Lucas
Eriksen
Son
Kane

Gazzaniga, Trippier, Sánchez, Davies, Sissoko, Lamela, Llorente.

I've assumed it'll be too early for Dele. Once again: Thin squad? My arse!

Dortmund are capable of scoring 3 goals at home against anyone. We've let in some very soft goals in this season's CL already. If the players, like you, think the tie is over then there's a good chance we'll lose.

I think that's it. A bit like the way we can still see the cosmic microwave background remnant of the big bang, Spurs fans can still see the remnants of our past failures. It's a part of our story. This is a vastly superior team to those who capitulated against United and City but the residue of doubt still lingers fuzzing away somewhere in the background. Recent cup exits to Juve, Man U, Chelsea have hardly inspired confidence. Obviously a 3-0 start should be enough to see us through but we shouldn't be taking it for granted -I can just imagine the carnage in here if we go 2-0 down with say half an hour left to play.

Ah thanks but it wont let me. Loads of think it wants me to allow and seems pretty dodgy. Thanks though.
I use this also, you have to close a few pop ups initially but it works fine after that. It's also on BT Sport app if you have that.

If an equally good team as Tottenham had a 3-0 lead over an equally good team as Dortmund then I'd say game over. But if you've spent any time following Tottenham you should know by now that if there is any possible way to fuck things up, this team will find it somehow. Why? Spursy, that's why.

  • 10 point lead over our rivals for Champions League at the end of February? Europa League. Spursy.

  • Only have to draw with already relegated Newcastle who are down to 10 men in order to finish above Arsenal? 5-1 defeat. Spursy.

  • 26 minutes of the second leg against Juve remaining, 1-0 up on the night with two away goals in the bank, at home and dominating. Crash out. Spursy.

  • Five wins on the bounch, overtaken Man City, 1-0 up with 18 minutes to go at home to Wolves. 3-1 defeat. Spursy.

  • 3-0 win in the first leg against Inter Milan. 4-1 away defeat after extra time, got the away goal to luckily get away with that one, same thing in the cup semi against Burnley.
Lasagnagate, those two 3-0 half time leads against the Manchester clubs...the list goes on.

NEVER not underestimate the power of Tottenham Hotspur to go full Spursy. Doesn't matter who the players or manager are, it's in our DNA. It's ALWAYS a risk.

If we get an away goal then I'll relax and enjoy the game. But it's perfectly plausible that they could beat us 3-0 at home. They've done so under Pochettino, after all.
