I think that shoots right towards the top of the list of the most miserable games ever. Just nothing of quality in the game at all. I know it's a bit of a quandary - 1-0 up against 10 men, had a hard game in midweek and in the middle of a packed fixture schedule, you don't want to push too hard - but the second half especially was fucking awful, bordering on disgraceful. An absolute waste of time for supporters.

Injuries or not, this side is just not functioning at the moment. Our attacking structures aren't great, our possession play is really flailing, and our press & defensive organisation is way off our best. That there is still enough about us (and maybe says something about the other teams in the league) to be towards the top of the table, great, but fucking hell start playing properly and who knows what might happen.........

Call me mad but I found the second half quite exciting (perhaps for the wrong reasons).

Plenty of attacking going on, but also plenty of poor touches and misplaced passes.

I think with Eriksen and/or Alli on it might have been different. Son and Lucas weren't at it today. Lamela also guilty of a horrible miss when he came on.

You have banging on about that all game. Have a look when Moura isn't in the box. Kane is often not there either.

This is all about Kane IMO and will be proved out the next time Moura doesn't play or will it be someone elses fault then.

OK yeah it's nothing to do with the fact Kane is playing in a completely different position.

Poor performance but a least we won. We've been garbage this season but somehow we're only 1 point off the top, though admittedly the others have 1 game in hand.

I don't know whether I should be relieved we are still somehow keeping pace or concerned that we may be in a false position with the troubles we're having and we'll start dropping. I'm going with the former in the hope that we get our injured players back soon and start clicking into gear. Could really do with buying in Jan to give us a lift. OPEN YOUR WALLET LEVY!!

At least we go into the international break on the back of a win with a fortnight to get some of the injured players back. Hopefully Southgate doesn't break any of our players as would be nice if Kane only played 1 match but can see him playing both.

Would be nice if Fulham and Southampton can do us a favour tomorrow and a draw in the City vs Pool game.

Sideways and backwards, sunday league calamity attacking, worrisome defending. Third in the league, how. I've yet to enjoy a match this season, still onwards and upwards.

How we have managed to match our best points haul after 8 games whilst playing this poorly is incredible. We really need to pick it up
To be fair we've only played two teams in the top four Liverpool and Watford and we lost both of those. Hoping we'll have picked it up in time for the big boys City, Chelsea and Bournemouth.

How we are currently third in the league, would have been second if we didn't fall asleep at Watford, when we are playing the worst football since Poch joined is a miracle.

They is no identity to this team currently.

We don't press as a team at all.

We have the two slowest fullbacks likely in the league, it's laughable that this is the case and i still stand by my point earlier in the thread that Trippier should be 3rd choice, he excels at kicking a ball forward and crossing, nothing else. Gives nothing on the right hand side. Rose is a shadow of the player he once was and will never be that guy we want him to be and Davies is running through treacle every game. This needs to be addressed. New LB and Aurier / KWP for RB.

The CM. Dear lord. We have two robots currently in Wanyama and Dier who likely have the slowest turning circle i have seen of any CMs in world football, they look so far from the players two years ago that it's embarrassing to think one of these is actually guaranteed to start. Such averageness and showing zero chance of that improving. We urgently need a CM Ndombele would have be lovely. This need to be addessed

Son. I'm sorry, i know so many love him. But if he isn't scoring worldies or having a purple patch, he is the worst player on the pitch every game. I would sell this guy in a heartbeat for Zaha, Bailey, Martial. Because its like playing for 10 men until we wait for him to have a good run of games and then go crap again. He isn't rapid, he is a great dribbler, rarely beats a decent defender, doesn't scare the opposition, doesn't attract other defenders to free up space. He just constantly gives the ball away or passes backwards.

Some are even suggesting we aren't looking that great becasue Eriksen is injured. REALLY!? He has been by far our worst player all season. If we are waiting for him to save the day, then poor you that's all i can say.

We need to start Aurier/KWP and hope Rose gets some form back.
We need to start Lamela who has been an absolute hero this year.
Kane is looking lean which could be the only reason we have a chance of finishing 4th this season.
I pray Winks gets back to pre-injury Winks and Dele returns with some fire in his belly.

Tripps, Son, Dier, Wanyama. For me, they can all go. Add nothing to the team at all.

I'm going to roll out the old cliche...Good teams win when they aren't playing well. Whilst there are some concerning issues if we can start getting performances to match our results we'll be flying.

Save me the analysis. We’re missing our tempo setter and playmaking chief in Eriksen. Nothing more to say.

Memo to Poch:

Please start playing Harry Kane as our centre forward.

Thanks

Every Tottenham fan
harry is not yet right, for some reason. that’s why things are like they are. when (hopefully) he gets his fitness/mojo back, moura will be repositioned.

Son, Tripps, Wanyama and Dier the whole team!? You actually see any of these players in the starting 11 and are happy / excited. I just yawn and await to see their average performance yet again.

It was a team without Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Vertonghen and Lamela (for the most part), so this performance shoudn't really be an indicator of our level. Only thing I would say that would encourage those teams is that we haven't really played that great all season though, even with those missing players. Despite that we're in third so that has to count for something though.
Yes, we were missing players but our performances have been no better this season when they were available. So I don't think we can disregard this data point for this reason.

Its the weirdest feeling. I'm the same, we are 3rd in the league and i haven't enjoyed any of our football this year. Its been so poor. Better than being bottom 3 and playing shit. Something needs to happen though.

We lack that excitement we used to have... i dont know what it is - I suspect Poch is trying to manage the tiredness and fatigue by making sure we win with as little effort as possible. It is the only explanation for why we look pretty poor. I am ecstatic we won but these arent necessarily convincing wins.

One thing that I do fear though is that we are stale - off the pitch yeah we have a great new stadium etc which when we move in may well be that catalyst for the second half of the season to push us through. On the pitch however we need to be how we used to be.

don’t you think there is a reason for that? i mean is there still a problem with harry’s fitness? or is poch trying all sorts of combinations.
