Yes, we were missing players but our performances have been no better this season when they were available. So I don't think we can disregard this data point for this reason.

As I clearly said in the next sentence! In terms of looking at this game alone though and other teams looking at it standalone, despite not being great all season I would still have been surprised if it was only a nervy 1-0 against Cardiff with all of those missing players present.

Nonsense.

I dont think Kane is playing in a different position BUT I do fear that him and Moura occupy the same spaces and Moura cramps his style. Its a theory but just strikes me that Moura if out wide and Kane is right up front, then we would see a far more effective and old Kane

I agree in principle but was never going to happen today with a threadbare squad and after how hard a lot of that team had to work in midweek.

Accept that trix, its tiring trying to get the ball off Barca etc, lots of chasing shadows...

However, generally we've been erratic and havnt resembled Pochs style too often this season. We need to get it back or we'll simply drop more points eventually.

We ain't playing particularly well however we are managing to win games.

A 1-0 win is psychologically good, this result and score line is important.

Another positive is that when the PL resumes in two weeks time, our injured players will return fully rested and fresh. Well, at least those that have recovered from their injuries by then.

Haven't properly got going yet this season and have managed to hit 3rd and a point off top.

What we're producing is ropey af tbh.

Poch really has to get creative, as injuries are obviously going to fuck us.

Inject some enthusiasm from the freshmen here and there to bring them into the unit properly and increase scope to cover injuries.

Skipp should have had a taste today.

I noticed a big problem with the midfield today. Both Winks and Dier did this numerous times. They will receive the ball with like 15 yards of space ahead of them and rather than driving into that area they sit on the ball and let it idle while looking for a pass. This let's the defense sit on the passing lanes.

I'll judge that when Moura doesn't play. Only then will we know if Kane (or via Poch) has changed his style due to injury or Moura is cramping his style.

Those who claim he is being cramped by Moura are just working on assumptions. Too many times today Kane was dropping deep and when you look up top Moura was not there.

As I've said before looking at the Michael Owen interview might just give an insight as to what is happening with Kane.

Pochettino is doing a very fine job considering what he's been dealt in a shambles of a transfer window yet again. He knows full well he hasn't got the squad to achieve anything greater than scraping top 4 and I think he's fully focused on just getting results to achieve that goal again. It's not going to be easy to likely finish above Arsenal and Man Utd.

Do I think he should have been braver in using Onomah and the rest of the youth? Yes. But we don't know the ins and outs and we don't have the full picture.

Until baldy opens his wallet we are going nowhere but slowly backwards i'm afraid.

Sure, you did but my point wasn't about what other teams think and more about it being our actual level. So wasn't having a pop at you just pointing out that all signs point to it being our actual level.

When you look at the 2nd half of last season, no additions while others strengthened, some key players older, injury (perm & temp) hits, and no new tactical wrinkles this looks to be what we are.

A win is a win, however, we rode our luck, where it could have ended in a draw. Poch should be a worried man, after our performance today.

The game reflected the weather: miserable. Yet, on the way home I felt very happy knowing it would have upset some on here, given that we won. Sissoko had a decent game, too.

Sideways and backwards, sunday league calamity attacking, worrisome defending. Third in the league, how. I've yet to enjoy a match this season, still onwards and upwards.

Didn’t you enjoy the 0-3 win at Man U?
