Fuck. We need to really go back to basics in terms of Pochs style.

Where's that high intensity pressing game gone?

If we could get our act together after the International break we'd be in business because we're in a good position despite some abject performances.

Players back and back to basics and we could go far this season. But performances of late have to be improved upon.
I think it would be unrealistic and also naive to be aiming for that kind of football at the moment.

We've unfortunately had a number of players enter the latter stages of the World Cup and they need to be managed. In addition to that we've got players susceptible to injury like Dembele, Wanyama, Rose etc.

Beyond those players we've got deadwood and players simply not good enough. Llorente, Sissoko, Nkoudou etc.

A midfielder or two was obviously needed but I can even see why Poch wanted another forward now. It gives us more room to breathe with regards to intensity. Just allows that extra bit of rotation to keep players fresh and on their toes.

He's been severely restricted in what he can do.

Sure, you did but my point wasn't about what other teams think and more about it being our actual level. So wasn't having a pop at you just pointing out that all signs point to it being our actual level.

When you look at the 2nd half of last season, no additions while others strengthened, some key players older, injury (perm & temp) hits, and no new tactical wrinkles this looks to be what we are.

Yeah I do agree with you mate, on all points, just not on the basis of this game alone that's all, which with those injured players I think could have turned out differently and even admittedly made us look better than we are, with that probably being on the basis of the level of opponent today, but in general definitely. The performances really aren't encouraging at all.

Hope Rose is not another long term injury. It seemed he felt the groin.

That was awful to watch. I said after 2 minutes that it would be a terrible game and I was correct.

With all the injuries and the energy sapping game on Wednesday, anyone who thought that today would be any different to what actually happened is off their head. I’m just glad it was us coming out with the 1 nil victory as opposed to a 1 nil loss that I predicted before kick off.

Maybe just maybe we can use this international break to get our players back and then start putting in performances that we know we are capable of. COYS

I thought that once again Mike Dean was a disgrace. I had to be careful with what I shouted as there were small kids in the vicinity of where I was sitting.

We may be the only top 4 side to beat them by a mere goal at home .

Goal difference is important and we wasted a chance to make that higher , also I see no improvement in some of our players at all eg- dier

Not sure. I think we could be doing better in terms of our pressing, in general, regardless of the world cup exploits. It's been non existent at times in comparison to what we've seen previously.

I don't think it's simple. It would only aggravate the current injury problems we are experiencing now imo. It takes a huge amount of physical effort and i'm sure he would have been given advice from the docs that we need to be careful. Some of these players have only had 3 weeks rest over the summer.

We've just been unlucky in that most of our players have reached the latter stages. On top of that we needed a couple of players and we haven't got them.
