For all those negative comments.... we had 3 first 11 players out yesterday (Dele, Eriksen, Verts) and 2 solid players (Dembele & Aurier), after playing a hard 90 minutes against one of the best teams in the world only 2 days earlier....

Come on! Yes we should have strengthened in the summer, we all agree with that so lets not argue on that point but fair play to the 11 yesterday who got the job done, may not have been pretty and yes we would have lost against a better side but all that matters is 3 points. Yes I hoped we would score more after 8 mins and especially when they had a player sent off but some of the blocks / clearances were brilliant from them.

They could have got an equaliser as they had some good chances and yes would have been angry if we dropped points against them as no doubting they are a championship side but get behind the team as we have tough games coming up now and we cant strengthen until January and even this I doubt we will....

Before today, I didn’t really have an opinion on Cardiff, be it their fans, players, manager etc but after today, every single one of them can get fucked.

They’re a nasty club with a wanker of a manager, thug players and deluded, thick **** fans.

You have to be an idiot to think that wasn’t a red card today. I’ve had some Cardiff fans saying it wasn’t a violent challenge. Jesus.

The sooner they’re out of the PL, the better. Tossers.

I quite enjoyed hearing the Welsh National Anthem at a Spurs game :finger:

Just saw the Rose penalty incident- can’t see how it wasn’t given. Clear contact. And the ref was yards away. Incompetent decision

I agree with the commentator on NBC, if the contentious red card hadn't been given the pen would have been awarded.

The pathetic dive by Rose didn't help, especially coming so soon after the soft pen he got last week.

It was pissing with rain, the opponents were unattractive and there were multiple problems with public transport. We were 20 minutes late due to a signal failure on the Piccadilly Line. There were plenty of reasons for people to go to the pub instead.

It was on the Spurs website recently that this would be a reduced capacity game. It also stated that no more tickets were being sold in the top tier, when this announcement was made.

Was the rest if the ground sold out at that point? If not I can see why they didn't open it up or put more tickets out if they still had others to sell and then transport issues on top of that also.

Would also have been extra costs for opening more of the top tier for staffing if not any other costs also.

Dont know why you got all the agrees. On Wednesday night I saw our pressing more intense than its been for a long time but we came up against a team very good at retaining the ball, a lesson for us in not giving possesion away cheaply. I actually dont think our pressing game should have been used there, we cant match them and may have been better off compressing the spaces as teams not as good as us with the ball do to us. Anyway, it was very unlikely with our injuries we could carry out the same pressing game today so the laboured narrow win against a Cardiff who are all to well aware that we are knackered and have injuries is welcome.

Pretty easy to be motivated to come out flying against them. I didn't think we pressed that well/intelligently in a tactical sense against Barca, particularly first half when they destroyed us and the game was effectively lost, but that's for a different discussion......

But that's fine, understandable, and fair points, but I didn't just mention pressing in that post did I? And even if we aren't pressing in some games (which might be wise given the extreme nursing of the squad currently), we're not very organised eg. getting in behind the ball, too open and the opposition are advancing through us with ease, and coughing up too many chances in each game. Every game we've rode our luck at times, keep doing that and it's inevitable we'll have a game like Watford every so often where you get punished.

To be staying in contention at the moment after the start we've had isn't to be sniffed at and shows the talent in the squad and Coach, all I was saying though was that Poch does have some control on these things and shouldn't escape scrutiny for some of what we are seeing - it was a counter to a lot of posts here and elsewhere just bemoaning yet again the transfer window etc. and that cant be used as a cop out and explain away everything every single bloody game.

You need to clear that thought from your head about January it won't happen but at least we should be in the stadium by then which will act as a distraction until the end of the season for the right reasons.

Fuck. We need to really go back to basics in terms of Pochs style.

Where's that high intensity pressing game gone?

If we could get our act together after the International break we'd be in business because we're in a good position despite some abject performances.

Players back and back to basics and we could go far this season. But performances of late have to be improved upon.

Six PL wins in eight games, a new Spurs record.

Yes, "back to basics" makes absolute sense.

I agree in principle but was never going to happen today with a threadbare squad and after how hard a lot of that team had to work in midweek.

One hundred percent spot on.

Whining Spurs fans who can't connect the dots between Dele, Eriksen, Dembele and Jan playing or not never fail to make me laugh.

Take Mane, Salah and Firmino out of that Liverpool side and Scouse would accept a below par display.

Not Spurs though.

It appeared to me that nearly every decent attacking move was initiated by a run and then a well-timed pass from Winks or Sissoko. Aside from that, we look very flat. Other players, like Moura and Son, made quite a few runs (with the ball) from deep that ended in nothing, because they either didn't pass, didn't pick the right pass, or the movement in front of them was lacking.

Obviously injuries to Eriksen, Alli and Dembele are a key factor in this, but I would like to see us trying to play a slightly higher tempo and more positive passing game.

We have higher standards though, we're a top three club, scousers can only dream.

Why have all the links to Warnock calling Harry a twat disappeared?
Being a world renowned lip-reader, I feel I have the authority to give the final call on this.

If you are going to yellow card a tackle like Ralls which was waist high with no intention of playing the ball and just to stop the player then you are no longer playing football as we know it.
It is akin to American football where the aim is to block tackle an opponent.
Those that don't think this is a red card are advocating going down a very dangerous road that would take us backwards to the Wimbledon days god forbid .
Tackles that took no account of the ball by Wimbledon players directly or indirectly ended the careers of Mabbut;Sstevens.Houghton.
The ref has done all football lovers a huge favour if this decision deters the late tackle that has no interest in playing the ball
Also by the way Fashenau almost killed Walker and would have done if he had been an inch or two closer to his head with a sliding tackle this also was a forget about the ball and get on with the game tackle

Neil Warnock

“He plays for England, I love him,” said Warnock on Kane, having called him a “twat” at the time. “I think he’s a tremendous player. But I don’t think you try to get other pros sent off, just because he’s had a poor game and Spurs were having a poor game – he shouldn’t take it out in us.”

Alternatively Neil, your midfielder was guilty of a wild challenge on Kane’s teammate that was worthy of the red card it received, and Kane was understandably angry about it. Just like you are every time you think one of your players has been wronged. Oh, you haven’t finished…

“I don’t know why it’s a red card. He’s not endangering the life of the player.”

Oh knob off, Neil.

No, it was just a poor attendance and not unexpected.
Bollocks. This was one of the games that they were only catering for 50k by closing the upper tier. Supporters may have been seated up there but that was for various reasons like those that had a promotional tickets they had to honour etc.

[EDIT] Taken from SSC
With City and Inter at Wembley, we have reached the limit of full capacity games for 2018, Brent Council have imposed a 50k limit on yesterdays game and Cardiff only 2nd PL team not to sell out their allocation as well meant attendance very low..

Trying to find out if PSV game is a reduced capacity game..

Chelsea if played at Wembley will be the last full capacity game according to where the info on attendance yesterday came from...
