Match: ____ English Premier League - Day 21

When: ____ Tuesday January 1st, 2019

Where: ____ Cardiff City Stadium

Kick Off: ____ 5:30pm

Referee: ____ Kevin Friend +

Team Form: ____ Cardiff -WLLDW ______ Spurs - WWWWL ____ All competitions

Cardiff have lost all three of their home EPL meetings with us by a 0-1 scoreline. Cardiff haven't kept 3 consecutive clean sheets in the top flight since April 1957. We are unbeaten in our last 7 league clashes with Cardiff (W5 D2) since losing 2-3 in March 1961.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has faced us in a home EPL match only once before; his Sheffield Untied team beat us (Martin Jol) 2-1 at Bramall Lane in February 2007. Warnock has lost 10 of his 14 league matches played on New Year's Day (W2 D2), with his defeats coming from 6 different clubs - Scarborough, Notts County, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield Untied, QPR and current side Cardiff.

We have won our last 5 EPL matches on New Year's day since losing 1-2 away to Aston Villa in 2008.

Cardiff have won 8 of their 11 home matches in the top four tiers of English Football on New Year's day (D2) - their only defeat was in 1992, losing 0-5 to Maidstone United. They have lost their last 14 EPL matches against "big six" sides, conceding 45 goals across those matches, with 22 of those goals conceded coming in their six defeats from the "big six" this season.

Kane has been involved in 6 goals in his 2 EPL games on New Year's day (4 goals, 2 assists); only two players - Andy Cole and Steven Gerrard (5) - have scored more goals on January 1st in the EPL than Kane's 4. Kane has scored 15 goals in his last 11 away EPL matches against newly promoted teams.

We dropped the baton on Saturday, so lets pick it up and continue the race by getting 3 points at Cardiff. A repeat performance of Saturday's Wolves and we get nothing. COYS

We'll win this. I can see poor ole Cardiff being on the receiving end of a backlash here. I predict more shots in the first half than in the whole Wolves game. Arse kicking imminent.

If the players have recovered from their tiredness , I agree that they will thump Cardiff to wipe that wolves defeat aside. Even if the players don’t recover fully, I’m expecting a win today.

The first half is so important here. Go for the jugular from the off, or else fatigue could set in again and we drop points.

Going 3-1 Spurs.

I think we tried that against wolves. If we do the same approach today then we must take our chances.

When we start thinking about other results and where we are in the table we literally take our eye off the ball, judging by some of the passing the other night. Big game, must win, but must also bury the Wolves result.

Don't worry about the title now as barring a miracle it's well over the hill and far away.

So it's all about getting Champions League football for the new stadium next season and continuing the good work done over the last few seasons.

All to play for; COYS!!!

Cardiff should be worried. I wouldn't want to play spurs after that humiliation. If the lads aren't pumped to prove they don't deserve the chokers and spursy titles they need to come out locked cocked and ready to roll. Spurs to win 3-1.

I can see Cardiff parking the bus and making it very frustrating for us. Need to be on it and give them a dry slap. Especially Warnock.....

Admittedly concerned by this game, will be tough, hoping their legs aren't used to the schedule and ours are. Warnock will relish this game especially off the back of the result at Leicester. Need to score early and open them up. Hopefully some surprise inclusions back in the team.
