Am I the only one here that thinks Townsend has the right ingriedents to make a good player. He does he to hone down on his shooting (understatement) but if he does he stands a great chance of being a crucial member for our team.

I still incline to the view that he is more suited to the Premiership than Lamela, but jury is out on both as far as I am concerned.

This should be read out in to all the players the dressing room today, and at every game, by a spurs legend..Our very own Cliff Jones, a player in Bill Nick's team.....I see Cliff at least one a month in big Tesco, Cheshunt.. always time for a chat, in his blue Spurs Track suit, and very spritely for a man his age.. i'm getting goose bumps and emotional now...

If I was his coach I would be able to improve him tenfold. Make him hold his position, make him aware of people around him and make him use his obvious ability to run with a ball to the teams advantage.

I'd work on his distribution and movement off the ball.

But he does have the physical and technical attributes to be very effective.

He must have listened to someone to get him as far as he had and at 24 I still think he's young enough to improve.

He just needs to stop thinking he's Gareth Bale 2012/13, and work on the team ethic then he has a chance.

Yep he has a fair few shortcomings but in the modern game you need players with pace. Quick players can make things happen, and at the moment we aren't making enough happen in the final third.

I can't believe he's playing Soldado with Lennon and Townsend. Didn't work last season and I don't think it will this. Ade or Kane should play with these 2 and Soldier should be with Lamela, Eriksen and Chadli.
