Too many of our key players are injured / recovering from injury / out of form, for us to win these types of matches. It's the simple truth.

It's tedious though that an individual brain fart once again became our down fall. Trippier has been very poor so far this season.

Didn't get to the game tonight and don't usually get into the match thread but I did tonight, fuck sake I won't make that mistake again.
So many shit players having shit games in a shit season apparently and here's me thinking Manchester City are quite good, so many opinions on this thread so I'm not going to add mine, what's the point?
One thing occurs to me though, I wouldn't be surprised to see tonight's bench all start on Wednesday.

Common sense and reason, something that cuts against the grain in here.

We played against the likely PL Champions for this season, and again, played an away game. It's easy to come out and simply say "thriw money at the problem", but in reality the Club have never done that (without selling first) and likely never will.

I think we do need to add, and think that Poch will do in January, but i wouldn't expect us to be close to being one of the big spenders in that transfer window, or indeed next Summer.

We gave a good account of ourselves, and this result will far from define our season.

Anyone else think Trippier's delivery has been a bit off as well this season? Just doesn't look quite the same to me. I'm pretty sure fatigue is playing a part.

Aurier has done well when played this season so I think he should be given a run.

Plus as I said pregame, trippier is always shit against them. Amazing blind spot by the manager.

Are you mad? How many goals has Lamela got this season? Sissoko maybe but uncalled for on Lamela.

Sorry Lamela got caught in possession to many times as he does most times and when he had a chance to score the easdiest of chances he fucked up. Sorry he doesn't do it for me.

So great to see Dier subbed and Winks coming on to show everyone including Southgate, what a CM is meant to contribute. The sooner Dier is benched the better. Sissoko was brilliant tonight too. I would like to see a 3 of Sissoko, Dembele and Winks. Dembele can play as the holding midfielder until replaced next summer with Winks and Sissoko just in front.

Thought we grew into the game after a shakey start , unlucky not to get at least a draw .Sissoko was my motm ,winks was excellent and full of energy, sadly I think time is catching up on the moose he's a shadow of a player now.I hate us losing but I can take it when we play well and /or match the opposition which we did ,if only lamela had tucked that away.....

Must have my spurs tinted glasses on, I thought we looked quite strong tonight

Oh well

City looked uncomfortable quite a lot in the second half tonight. We aren’t at the races for whatever reasons this season either.

Just pissed off at the manner of the goal. It’s really not acceptable.

Lol some of you lot have no appreciation for a team high on injuries, low on confidence and in a rut.

We were much better than the shite on here. Football isn’t always about beautiful dominating play. It’s about graft and desire and working your way into form and building confidence. We saw that tonight.

But not from our support. Fuck me...

Its funny that everyone thinks we're going to get hammered. What is the most Spurs like thing to do in the current situation?

We'll run them close, be hard done by with a poor ref decision and lose the game saying we were robbed.
We ran them close and we made chances to level it but it was a good attempt

Overall we are a poor side...it was kind of like watching Wolves, Brighton or Huddersfield against City tonight. I thought we looked much better when Winks, Eriksen and Dele were on the pitch and I think that is what we have been missing so far this season.

Dembele is finished at the top level whilst Trippier and Davies just aren't of the required level.

I think Poch has taken this group as far as he can and if he get the opportunity to manage at one of the mega money clubs he should take it. He will never win anything with Spurs. I'd say the same for Kane, Alli and Eriksen also.

City are just superior to us all over the park and the pace that they move with the ball and the ease with which they ran past our players was very impressive to see. They had an off night also but in the end could have one by more.. for out part we only looked good in the last 20 and by then it was too late...Winks should have been on at half time.

I think what you our seeing was that our being two points of the top was only the result of a kind fixture list and was a completely false position in all honesty.

For my part I'm just getting a bit bored with the current status quo in football. I'm fed up with Wembley and despite having a season ticket I've only attended one home game this season which was the defeat to Liverpool. I'm actually getting used to not going which is interesting as I was previously fanatical - instead of queuing for hours outside Wembley Park I'm relaxing at home and the defeat hurts a lot less...I just find it a bit boring really given that it's just about who can invest in the best players but the resources are unequally distributed.
I can't understand this thought.
You say we need to get three players out but then say Poch has got them as far as he can?!

How about Poch is given a fresh bunch of players to replace those outgoing and then see?

The core is there, and they will respond to him again, the problem is some of those are lacking the desire and energy they once had. 3 or 4 new additions can change all of that. They will bring new life and energy and we can go again.

These games are highlighting those who we can no longer rely on. Look at Winks when he came on, full of energy and drive. Go get two or three of those players and promote some youth and we can regain some positivity.

It's been said many times before but we really need our new stadium, the players need it, Poch needs it, the fans need it, it can only be frustrating all.

What has always puzzled me over the years with the community on SC is that we collectively never seem to realise when an opponent is in cruise control because that's all they need to beat us in certain games. When an opponent does that, it will flatter us because on the surface it looks like the teams are playing evenly. But even is not the case when one team is barely making an effort. We are poor when we can't beat a team that's playing poorly. It's that simple. We were bad. The only reason why some are fooled, is because one team virtually played with their hands tied behind their backs and still won.

Exactly this! Was the same against Liverpool also. City were nowhere near their scintillating best and still carved through us at will.
