Just in my way back from Wembley now. I haven’t read any comments so don’t know the general consensus here. But from where I was sitting we played alright. We looked a bit shaky in the first half but still had our moments. In the second half we were the dominant team and should have come away with a point.

Trippier looked vulnerable and owes a debt to Sissoko for helping him defensively. Lamela was bright. Winks looked sharp when he came on. Toby was solid.

Unlucky that we lost but I definitely came away feeling less concerned than I did before kick off. The main difference seems to be that when city get good chances they are clinical whereas we are not. That Sissoko cross chance is a case in point.

Man I miss Wanyama of 2016/17.

When you watch Fernandinho nipping in to clear danger, getting City on the front foot and bring snide when needed......well Wanyama was doing all that for us.

The midfield is now in a state of vacuum where we lack creativity and power.

Temporary solution is to play Winks and Dembele. Given the latters inability to maraude forward these days he can still utitlise his ability to shield the ball as a DM, allowing Winks to be the progressive of the two. Add Eriksen, Lamela and Alli, with Aurier/KWP and Rose then we’ve a well balanced side and 2 quality impact players in Moura and Son. Sticking with Trippier, Davies and Dier in central midfield is killing us.

Spurs fans... fuck me. This City side have made us look absolutely second rate multiple times in the last few years. When we were at our top.

We had them on the ropes second half and if Lamela’s goal goes in we are favourites to win. That hasn’t been remotely the case for two years.

Good Christy almighty. Some of you wouldn’t know a good gusty fight if it came and thumped you in the face. Bunch of fucking whiny tossers some of you. Embarrassing.
You saw a lot of positives about the game and some others saw a lot of negatives too. We are here to discuss our opinions and they won’t always be the same as yours. For all this gutsy fight you speak of, there was a whole lot of nervousness, of toothlessness. An individual error leading to another goal. Another early goal.

It’s like the time we won 0-3 at Old Trafford and just like Poch himself, a lot of us were concerned and aware of the obvious deficiencies. Not just getting carried away.

People should be more than entitled to share their opinions and grievances, especially after a defeat. It’s not embarrassing at all.

What has always puzzled me over the years with the community on SC is that we collectively never seem to realise when an opponent is in cruise control because that's all they need to beat us in certain games. When an opponent does that, it will flatter us because on the surface it looks like the teams are playing evenly. But even is not the case when one team is barely making an effort. We are poor when we can't beat a team that's playing poorly. It's that simple. We were bad. The only reason why some are fooled, is because one team virtually played with their hands tied behind their backs and still won.
We were so little a threat that pep was able to take aguero off confident that the team would never score and he was right, some posters think that we will pick up soon but I've seen nothing to suggest they will this malaise is in for the season we aren't good enough to achieve top four.
West ham tomorrow night should complete a depressing week for us fans out of CL, beaten in the league then knocked out the league cup by them.

The stadium is restricting us no doubt, it may not show in the financials but how can it not be?

Restricting, yes. Roadblocking, no.

We had the money to spend on players this summer. Levy tried to play funny fuckers but unfortunately every other club is wise to him now.

Compound that with the inability to shift players he fobbed us off with in previous windows, thus clogging up the squad spaces and wage bill, and suddenly a transfer policy which got us into the top 4 begins to look unfit for purpose in terms of keeping us there.

It’s no wonder the manager and players are pissed off.

So the 'Golden Age' is over.
Pochettino has gone
and all the players departed
that got us into the CL recently.
Funny I must have missed all that
in the Stadium nonsense.

We were narrowly beaten by the team
odds on to win the league
and should have drawn at least.
Nothing to do with bottle, killer instinct, mental toughness
or all the other psychological bullshit
body language or whatever.
Lamela's shot set up by Dele goes in
and we are the new world champions
nearly.

When you look at one game you are right. But when you look at last 4-5 years you are wrong:
If Lamela scored yesterday...
If Kane didn't hit the post last minute vs Juventus at home...
If Lloris stayed at in goal vs PSV...
If Poch wouldn't put Son at left wingback vs Chelsea in semi-final...

These are just top of my head. You see where I'm going? We always have an excuse. And I'm tired of excuses. As are other fans. When I would be able to demand something? We increased our bank loan by 200m to complete the stadium. We haven't done that to complete the team.

He'll get goals in and around the box with the right players, on the right sort of form, around him.

But the thrilling, swashbuckling Kane we're used to, charging at goal with defenders bouncing off him, scoring scorchers and racking up tallies, is gone imo.

He's a victim of his own fierce drive and ambition.

Didn't listen to his body and pushed it to hard.

Annoying too because he's an intelligent lad and deep down knows better; but he just hasn't been able to finesse that dogged desire that elevated him to the heights he's reached and sit on it when he's needed to, and be patient.

A new striker to provide decent competition for him is a top priority for 2019/20.

The least it will do is force him to really sharpen the weapons he still retains and maximise what he still has.

Still lethal in front of goal when his sights are aligned.

Do you not think that with rest the old swashbuckler can return?

I'd have given us a one in ten chance of a draw before I saw the teams, but now I'm a tiny bit more positive- not seeing ours but theirs.
Due to a mix of excellence and poor refereeing, Kompany normally has Kane in his pocket- probably the only CB I've seen do that. But I reckon H will do better against their ball-playing CBs. Moura through the middle also makes sense. And no KDB can only be a positive.

I'm also happy to see us trying to contain their FBs, instead of watching Son being bullied by Kyle.

No stupid early fkups please, against their high press- play longer and earlier to reduce the risks of dangerous turnovers.

0-1, or 0-2 prediction.

Why havent they made at least a token effort to revert to real football pitch markings? Lazy fuks.

Not a bad performance, tactically, individually, pretty even on chances and they took one after our mistake. Should have had a fiver on the scoreline to slightly soften the blow.

Great effort by the fans to turn out over there on a Monday night on the box.

Agree and won fuck all whilst at our peak real shame the club have decided not to have taken up the opportunity a chance missed.
The real time to push on was not 3-4 years ago, but when we had the perfect opportunity in January 2012 to put a real stake in the ground, but missed this with the signings of Saha and Nelson, when with real ambition should aimed to buy the best available to challenge and this would have propelled us back into the CL again, and hopefully set us up to compete. This was the big miss.

But lamelas shot didn't go in like his fluff against Milan from around 6 yards out small margins but big mistakes cost us time and again and no we are never new world champions.
