people on here always giving me the hate when I comment on how poor trippier is, do you see it now? He is such a fraud.

I have nothing against trips he always gives his all but him & Davies arn’t good enough for spurs x11.

They don’t offer us anything going forward just cutting back when in position to take on the man and cross. They are both small slow and weak, the occasionally good cross is not good enough.

Rose & serge are the complete opposite, different game if we started them

It does seem a crazy decision to sell off Dembele now for a few bucks when we have barely any other midfielders who can still walk. Especially if he is fit but not playing.

At least we won't do a Leeds though!?!

I don't see what difference Davies would have made if he was stayed deep with Vertonghen as he isn't the quickest but Poch probably wanted Trippier and Davies to push up higher to try and prevent the midfielders from playing the ball over the top. You can disgaree with the tactics but I think it is a bit silly to say it is naive because frankly Poch knows vastly more about tactics than the vast majority on this forum.

It's just having another body there that would have made a difference, less of a chance for the defence to become split on the counter. I do think it's naive but that's just my personal opinion. I'm not claiming to know more than Poch, but there are still choices he makes that I can disagree with. It's like in a few games this season where the game is going completely against us, for a fairly sustained period and we don't make any changes and just watch the inevitable collapse unfold. Watford and Arsenal away spring to mind. I think it's naive because I find it a lack of judgement with the scenario at hand, but like said, that's just my opinion.

Wouldn't this post be ironic if you couldn't back that up.

Janssen scored today. Just in time to save our season and score the winner in the league cup final against Burton after they win 10-0 in the second leg.

So proud of our team.

Love them all.

Well said.

I feel we played well and it was just one of those days when things don't go for us. It hurts like hell, but for me it doesn't do anything to relieve the pain by dissecting the game and looking for blame. We lost when so easily it could have been a win by 2 or 3 goals and I am concentrating on the positives and praying the apparent injuries prove to be less than they looked.

Please explain what a counter attack is then. Because to me it means attacking and moving the ball quickly from any part of the pitch when you win back the ball. Which is exactly what they did.

Regardless what you want to call it, every time we were in possession in the first half they looked more dangerous than us. We weren't in control. That's the point. It was the complete opposition of the Chelsea game in the league.
For me a counter is when you are attacking, namely towards the opposition goal and the defending team wins the ball in their half and exposes the offensive positioning the other team has. This has little individual mistakes more to do with the positioning of the team. Sometimes you have to accept the possibility of being done on the counter when attacking. The difference is the goal we coincided was in part due to an individual error. In situation where we shouldn't be at risk.

I don't think we were in control. But I don't think its our right to be incontrol against Man utd. It was a yoyo first half end to end. We were trying create intricate moves in attack, often getting close to pulling them off, but getting exposed on the counter, which although scary, were largely dealt with. It was largely even, we got more shots off, but often from range, we had the best chance with winks, but they were countering very well and could of scored.

But, before conceding we were beginning to settle into the game. Man Utd hadn't got a shot off for almost 20 mins, at that same time we got 4 shots off. It sounds weird but Man utd actually had more shots in the second half. In most games we play a game where we trust our CB,they are both very good one on one, and often it appears pretty scary, but they deal with it.

Its not really comparable to Chelsea,Chelsea want to play a patient possession based game, we prevented them from doing that. Man utd wanted to play an open game, I think we fancied our chances in that kind of game and we didn't really try to change its nature. Maybe that was the wrong move, but I believe if we were to play the same kind of game we did today 10 times we'd win 7 of them.In the PL we created more chances today than any other game apart from against fulham. We are a team that often concedes more chances than we create, normally we go for quality over quantity. Today with our chances we should of done more, and for me that was our major failing, its not the first time this has been the case.

Love how Davies played fine but is somehow being lumped in with Trippier in the kick a player stakes.

Davies is not the player to suit playing Son on the left. Davies didn’t overlap once with Son. Rose would have done. Effectively we were playing with ten men first half. Such a waste.
