When we played them in the league we got into them early but today after we scored we seem to freeze, the players just went in on themselves and once Utd equalised I feared the worst
.

We were all over them after our goal. Their first goal was completely against the run of play.

It was after their second goal that we froze.

I've had time to reflect and honestly I'm not even angry, I'm numb to it and just disappointed at yet another missed opportunity. Every time it looks like our luck might change, for whatever reason it just doesn't happen. It's so incredibly soul crushing, yet also expected.

It's a cliché, but we are very much at a crossroads this year. We've missed our best chance at winning the league (Leicester and Chelsea), as well as our best chance of winning a trophy (this years FA Cup and 2015 League Cup final). Manchester City have emerged as a seemingly immovable force and the likes of United and Liverpool have begun to invest and improve. Chelsea and Arsenal can only get better as well.

We may have a better team than most, but gradually it is breaking up. It was Walker last year, now it looks set to be Alderweireld and Rose. The other players will stay next season, due in large part to the new stadium, but after that it's all up in the air, dependant on results. We seriously, so seriously, need to invest well during the summer. If we don't, the decline will almost certainly begin.

That's just my opinion and I may well be letting my disappointment get the better of me, but that's how I feel at the moment and have done for a while, in fact. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. COYS.

Based on where we were, we have been successful.
We certainly have moved on from the sugar regime with us progressing steadily from a top six club to now a top four so in that regards I agree that is a measure of success that some clubs would love.
But I noticed that you commented on another by saying that we have reached a final and 2 x semi-finals but so far we have not been able to bridge the gap, and after today it's hard to see if or when we can but without wishing to moan we have a decent team albeit not a silverware winning one

Why do you only turn up after we lose?

The utter bollocks you roll out is the same fucking sentiment with the words moved around. Pretty tiresome considering you haven't been anywhere to be seen since your last shitfit.
Levy Lover are we. Just saying havent won anything and i havent posted on hear because i have to listen to the utter bais of bellends like you, so less of your utter shite.

I actually thought their winning goal came against the run of play but to be honest once it got to 1-1 I thought it would be time up for us and second half we really didn't show, still time to cement fourth spot now that would represent a degree of success playing in a different ground for a season.

It’s because everyone thinks top 4 is the be all and end all. It isn’t. Winning fucking trophies is. Arsenal are in disarray yet still have won more in recent years than we have. It’s shit.
Top 4 and winning trophies kinda go hand in hand. Top 4 effects our ability to attract top players, pay for those players, and compete for trophies. Also, it's a lot more fun playing away at Barcelona than it is playing away at Midjtil....mid titty land in Denmark. Of course winning trophies is the ultimate goal though. That's obvious.

Levy lover because I remember your last shitfit?

You're more bothered by what happens off the pitch than on it.

Who responsibilty was it to win today. To go the extra mile to put Man United to bed? Which one of our world stars showed they were head an shoulders above anyone else and deserved a move to a big club to win things. Winning and losing a game sits squarely at the feet of the players. And not one of them performed when it mattered? Did Walker stand out this year at Man City? Was he the reason they won the league? Was he bollocks. Good player. Left to win a trophy with a super stellar amount of players and a bottomless pit of money. Verts is the only one who can legitimatley walk off that pitch and say to his agent. I’ve given my all this year and want a move.
I don’t disagree, but also isn’t that the point. Going to a club with lots of big game players to increase the chance of winning trophies. Dispassionately I couldn’t argue with Walker going to city. And I couldn’t argue with frustrated players considering how frustrated I am about not winning anything over the last few years.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Gary Lineker on fire off the shoulder of Steve Chettle. I watched Ricky Villa dribble in the park near the 'Twin Towers' Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

But we can’t compete with the Oil Slavers or United or Real or PSG in the game of buying established stars. The only way we can compete is to build a team ethos that is sustainable and renewable (via academy etc).

United are spunking 400 grand a week on Sanchez and they got a little return today. Which “winners” exactly do you want us to “invest” in and how much do you suggest we “invest”?

Not having a go - just think it’s complicated.
I don’t disagree that we can’t compete with Man City, etc on wages, but we have hardly spent a penny over the last 5 years, and we don’t pay the wages to get big names. We need to change that. I want some players who know how to win titles and can share that with the dressing room. Honestly I’m not sure if we can compete unless we become bankrolled by a new mega rich owner. I just hope that the new stadium does lead to an investment period ( in the squad ) because otherwise we are going to miss out on this opportunity
