If Eriksen will get chewed up and spat out at the Bernabeu
He won't be afforded many
Seriously, think Eriksen has been our worst player by a mile. Has his head been turned?
He's an honest professional and I don't think for one second he's the the type to sling it in but it can still effect the mind and I think he's probably playing with a bit of uncertainty.

Is this his worst scoring and assist season for us so far?

Love this thread. Against Watford people were tooling up and getting in their cars to go find Llorente and do his kneecaps, now they want him to come on.
When they're keeping it so narrow though having one of Son or Moura heavily marked centrally is pretty pointless, unless we score a super intricate move or a wonder goal it looks like crossing is going to be our most productive route, so Llorente calls are wholly valid.

If we go one up the game will open up (then we can take Llorente off :p)

Nothing too much to moan about, think the majority are playing well bar Erisken at the moment. But I bet he picks up his game in the second.

It's really difficult, I never watch Newcastle this season, knew they were poor but didn't know rafa resorted to this 11 men behind the ball time waste from 30 mins nonsense too.
Just gotta to be sharp at the back so they don't frustrate us into a mistake which is I assume they just did to City.

Not the easiest for Eriksen, it's very crowded around him, adventurous passes will be often blocked.

This game cries for a tall striker in the box... like Llorente.

I don't know, I suspect that might be meat and drink for this Newcastle team. Need something more crafty, though that could involve llorente link up rather than just crossing

The irony about Llorente is that when we're actually playing in a way that isn;t to his strength he plays, yet when we're knocking in qualit crosses he doesn't. That's why we need him on

I think Poch's done the right thing and started more dynamic.

That's what's generated the chances and positive play today.

Llorente has an effect on our drive as he can't press. Pressing from the front laregely sets the tone for our pace and intention.

Now we know we can bring Fernando on a bit later and he'll get proper service.

With the players on now, though, if we grab a goal the game will open up and we will have a more dynamic front line to capitalise on counters.

I'm with Poch here.

We're doing well, but need to shoot more. They're fine playing deep and centrally, and we're not going to walk it in. So son, Eriksson and winks needs to shoot from 20 yards to give newcastle more reason to step out another 5 yds

Has put in dangerous balls, but found his man once for the Lamela chance. Although it's kind of a moot point how good his crossing is when he doesn't like/want to play left back often at all for some reason.
He's a great CB, he just has a very good left foot and great composure that's pretty much why Belgium and occasionally us have played him there.

He's a good option to have even in a three when he can get higher up.

I think part of him does like playing there because he can get forward more.

Sonny should be passing to Lamela there instead of trying to shoot... it's these little things today that are getting in the way of us scoring.
