i don't disagree with you at all. the point i may not have made very skillfully is that there are teams we play where putting your most talented 11 can have a leveraged impact on the overall game. sometimes its important to fit the system to the players and not vice versa. if we had a holding midfielder this year who was playing strong consistently, the value of such an approach would be limited. as of now, our holding midfielders are not playing as well as in years past and there may be times where putting a faster, skillful team up and pressing high would pay dividends. especially against opposition with slower forwards and midfielders.

Fair enough...I'd have like to seen Sissoko in there alongside Winks, think that would have been a little bit better personally.

Gazzaniga continues to impress. I hope it means Lloris remains sharp and on his toes. Both of them have saved us in the last 3 games.

I thought that was some of the best football we've played all season and totally deserved the win. Only player to have a bad game was Son. Not sure why Davies and Eriksen were getting stick. Eriksen was quality in the middle and cleary tired by the last ten minutes. Davies was solid, everyone knows he's not World Class and that was a solid performance despite the bang average crossing. Aurier the same. They all contributed to the team play though and everyone else was absolutely class individually.

The Inter game is on my birthday. Got tickets for the game so will go. Not sure it’s the best idea though!

Son didn’t have the best of games but we were better once Lucas went off. He’s penetrating with his dribbling but it feels like he makes our attack a bit of a mess.

Another win but still a long way from being convincing.
Hopefully the performances will come soon but things just don't fell right at the moment

That was one of our best performances of the season. Their GK was fantastic and our finishing a bit off. Not sure how you can complain at dominating for 88 mins and 25 plus attempts on goal

I simply said it was one of the best performances of the season. Didn’t say I was over the moon with it, but at least we attacked with pace compared to some of the dross performances thus far (at home to Cardiff being a particularly dire affair)

Despite the shitness of Wembley the atmosphere wasn’t too bad in there tonight. Definitely better than the Man City game.

If we beat Inter and match their last result isn't it head to head? So if we won 1-0 does our away goal count? Just wondering because everyone saying we need to win by 2 goals.

Then we could beat Barcelona by any margin and Inter could win 6-0 but head to head we go through?

The fans tonight did as good a job as is possible in that ground after the equaliser. And the PSV fans were rowdy for 87 minutes. As you say, much better atmosphere.

Below is the tiebreak categories. If we beat Inter 1-0 and then beat Barcelona, we go through.
  1. Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  2. Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  3. Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  4. Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
