Now Sonny is back we have a decent chance of coping without Harry. I know Poch likes the passing build up but with Llorente up front he needs the ball in the air to be effective even if he did miss one with his head. Serious questions about Hugo again on corners. Small crowd but at the west end of the ground a decent noise was made could do with a few more for the next two games.

Was at the game yesterday, which was good because I don't get to go to many these days.

I thought all of the lads played well; no one was really off the boil so to speak (perhaps Eriksen). Llorente tried hard and obviously got the winner, but he's just not quick enough, which isn't his fault really.

The only downside was the lack of urgency in the 1st half, which is something we've seen over the past 2 seasons. I'm not sure if Poch is sending them out there with that game plan; be patient, tire the opposition and then blitz them in the 2nd half.

If it's a genuine plan and it works then fair enough, but if it's not then we should be blitzing the opponents 1st half and 2nd half.

Anyway, it was a massive 3pts. COYS!!

I am pretty sure that same ball boy made another play in the first half. Seriously.

There was a play on the sideline, and I think Watford either ended up with a free kick or a throw - but either way, the ball boy was holding onto the ball until all the players got sorted out, and kept Watford from taking a quick restart.
The ball boy was my man of the match

Finances ? A lot of salaried folk haven't had any moolah since Christmas.
Exactly the reason I didn't go.

Plus, any games I don't go to this season comes off the price of my ST next season, which I'm still yet to convince my missus I will be getting. This season was going to be my last as a ST holder, but as we haven't played a single fucking game in the new stadium my hands are tied...

Ben Foster. I am sure his possession stats when playing us must be up there with the highest in the league. Such a time wasting cheat. Made the result all the sweeter yesterday. Add to that the ball boy incident when the Watford player was moaning about time wasted...

The ball boy incident was ridiculous. I know he was booked but the player should get a fine or something for acting like that towards a kid.

In one action Rose was fouled, he waved play on, the ball went to Son who then went past the defender and advanced, the ref pulled it back for the free kick.

He was awful.

That was laughable wasn’t it.

He got so many things wrong for both sides overall, I thought.

Nah, not having that.
Sticking by comments I made about llorente before the game.
I always liked him as a player, and respect his achievements. But he's too old now for the top level and too immobile. I'm very pleased for him after what happened yesterday but it doesn't alter that we need a superior backup for Kane and to rotate strikers more often.
This is what SC has become, people trawling through the pre-match comments so they can make cutting retrospective replies! :cautious:

I can assure you didn’t travel through anything pre-match, I saw your post quoted by someone else during the game.

Hate to be "that guy" but..

Love how we're playing early Saturday, but Liverpool not until Monday night. They could at least try and make it subtle.

Newcastle are always tricky too.

Unlike the load of panicking, hate-filled rage-babies on the match threads.

I usually avoid match threads - it's easy 'cos I'm at the match. Tonight I was at home on a dodgy stream, having not bought tickets because of health complications (I will get myself to the Newcastle match, then I will probably disappear for awhile), so I read the unending screed of entitled, blame-based crap that masquerades as "being a fan".

And then we scored and suddenly all the hate was love. What bullshit.

Man you're not wrong. This thread reads like a suicide note when we're losing but it's worth it for the good times.

Hope you get better soon!

What I don't understand is why, with Llorente leading the line and with Llorente being a man who scores a lot with his head, did we get so few crosses anywhere near him. A lot of the time we were playing the classic spurs build-up, on the ground, intricate passes to feet and great for Kane or Son to finish but not Fernando's strong suit. So many times we had the ball within crossing range and Llorente was frantically waving his arm for some service and nothing went in. I realise lobbing the ball up to a big man is not the modern Tottenham way (although Gilzean, Chivers and others could be lethal in the air) but now that we are missing Kane, Ali and (until tonight) Son we have to be pragmatic and play to the striker's strengths especially with Watford defending a lead with most men behind the ball. Ericsson could have chipped in to Llorente many times as could Jan, Toby, Winks and Aurier. Sissoko tried a few and thankfully Rose got a great cross in at the end.

Part of that problem is not enough people getting in the area, example watch ManU trying to get back into the game against Burnley and loading the box. Llorente in there on his own surrounded by defenders, that could by why the reluctance.

Last year half of the posts regarding scheduling was that we were under more pressure because we were playing after everyone else. We can't have it both ways.

Yep and the Leicester title season, people were moaning for ages about scheduling saying that we're playing after them so it puts more pressure on us.
