Last two seasons we were devastating going forward and solid in defense. Now we are lethargic going forward and unsure in defense. Toby is out ok, which explains defense but our plodding attack? That needs sorting swiftly if we are to hand onto the coattails of those ahead of us.

Were there that many great quality chances though? It wasn't exactly a game of missed sitters.

Those were mostly just pot shots because we weren't moving the ball quickly enough.
Three off teh top of my head that were great chances.

Kane was one on one too slow and was blocked. Kane is one on one from Auriers header yet he takes a terrible touch. Dele with a better touch was one on one yet he let it get away from him.

None of those has absolutely anything to do with Poch's subs or Sissoko playing midfield and everything to do with our players not taking their opportunities.

I don't get this fascination with needing to assign blame, but if you must then at least part, if not most, should be assigned to teh players for not taking their chances.

We are the worse team in the top six for attacking creativity anyone that said otherwise is a liar.... Poch why wait until we are a goal down to change the players and formation makes no fucking sense..

Are you serious? Go to OT and be entertained, go to the Emirates and feast on a goal fest.

And this is why we don't deserve top 4.....!
Going backwards haven’t got no pace down the flanks. Shows how much of an asset Walker and Rose were to us. That’s what City are doing to teams this season what we were over the last two. 3rd then 2nd and not pushed on as I said after the Man c game I fear regression under this regime. Not Poch even tho he isn’t doing himself any favours. But the Chairman and owner who don’t want progression I’m sorry they want pound coins like the lot in the red side of north London . Big fancy stadiums making loads of money but going in the direction of winning titles etc. Once the stadium is built we will be the blue and white version of the goo nets I’m affraid just one big gravy train like at the emirates Love Spurs but fear for us.

You have a point and I actually thought Kane and Eriksen were very average tonight.

Still, what is Sissoko offering tonight? Cannot see it myself
Neither could I, he was poor I felt. But he wasn’t the reason we didn’t score more, far from it. Nor was Dier the reason. Let’s face it, if Danny Rose had been on the pitch he’d be getting pelters too.

This lot will never win a thing. The mentality isn't there. Takes conceding to actually make them realise that fucking about with it on the halfway line isn't going to score us a goal.

Massive kneejerk and I'm sure i'll be more reasonable tomorrow but that lot have pissed me right off

We are going to need some big signings if we want to win this league anyway but I do agree with your overall sentiment.

The team doesn’t look as motivated this year, that’s been the biggest issue, I think ever since the league has been gone the players have lacked focus and I think Poch has as well to be honest.

Champions League performances and a few results like the Liverpool one in the league aside we have been rather average compared to the standards we have set the last few seasons.

Hard to really predict where the team might go from here, my gut feeling is telling me that our focus is the CL and FA cup until we get into the new stadium and we will purchase some heavy hitters in the summer so we can focus on going for the PL.

Irrespective of all that however, we should be beating West Ham and if Poch would have been braver we would have.

I think our biggest issue this season has been not having Walker and Rose, their pace would stretch the play and create space, we don’t have that now.

This thread never ceases to amaze me. We had 31 shots, Kane was probably his most wasteful in front of goal...

But let’s blame Sissoko and Dier.

31 shots, 72% possession, but we put this on the whipping boys.

Some proper lemons in here.
Tbf the stats were that high only because they sat back and defended for the entire match. Any other team in the 4 leagues would have had similar stats against them tonight. It doesn't mean that we were shit hot though does it? We should and ought to have turned them over tonight given the level they are at and where we are and that's that really. I'm amazed some cannot fathom that. Sorry if I've misinterpreted your post.

I salute you guys to still carry on watching the post match portions after a disappointing match like this, not that it's 6+am now for me helps. But the amount of poor punditry given to us just do me in to wanna even watch them..

I will be ashame as spammers fan TBH.. They can attack with intent, but they chose to sit back for 85 minutes of the match.. If Moyes is any good, he should set up his team to play. They could have won it, especially seeing Sissoko was playing, we were so defensive minded and Poch is so passive.

All in all, everything about that club from top down to fans are dumb.
No way Sissoko should be starting at home against a defence-minded west ham. That's a mistake from poch, and I suspect he knows it.

The obvious holes in our squad keep coming back to bite us - poor quality in midfield and really poor options attacking options off the bench. How anyone at the club signed Sissoko or Llorente is just baffling, other than of course that their wages are below £100k per week.

Football fans piss me off. Maureen plays defensive and it's anti football. Moyers does it and it's a defensive masterclass.

I get the difference, but as a spurs fan I like to be entertained

This one's on the players for not taking their chances when they came.

Hmmm, that can happen though. Leaving Sissoko on for 70 minutes when it's very clearly not working only for him to then make a mistake and leave Obiang with time on the ball to bang it in top bins and waiting for us to go 1-0 down before making a change is not really excusable for me

Nah, some people handle disappointment better than others, nothing embarrassing about that.
We all wanted to win mate.
I see your point, but were not all idiots or delusional or embarrassing or whatever for expressing our anger on here like some would accuse us of.

There was the pullback on Kane, the Adrian foul on Alli, Alli's boot being kicked in almost exactly the same fashion that saw Chelsea given a penalty yesterday, and the shout for handball at the death (although they never showed a replay of that so I can't be sure). On another day we easily could have been awarded four penalties.

But I also understand your point. Dean may not have done us any favors whatsoever, but Poch absolutely could have and should have changed things long before he did. Ultimately it was our own plodding performance that cost us most.

You forgot the amount of times when Kane was being held in corners, and then when kane was being held down and pulled back before he got his shot near the post.

If you're saying that, why is it okay for the people who handle the disappointment better to refer to the people who struggle with it more as embarrassing? IMO, I have no problem with people venting in Match Threads where the reactions are immediate and we're all in the heat of the moment.

You can hardly blame Moyes.

Smart tactics from him as he's obviously observed our ability to be slow at moving the ball in midfield. If they'd have come at us it would have played right into our hands.
