The sad thing is that had we brought in 2/3 like we should have done I think we may have been closer to the top than we currently are especially that CM position we are so weak in there.
I'm not convinced there will be any serious investment next summer still think it will be a case of cheap alternative deals with our dead wood taking z while to shift because we want so much money for them.
Well we already learnt cheap alternatives won't be accepted. We're now stuck in an ever decreasing circle - in the picture that you paint.

We really lacked any sort of dynamism in attack today - too much slow and ponderous build up; not enough zip. I know it's difficult in games like today - Wolves were set up very well - but teams that aim for titles find a way.

Surely the manager has to pull the players off who are coasting and send a message

He does , but he cannot play for them and to be at home and lose 3-1 to a newly promote side, not 2-1 but 3 bloody 1, not good enough from the guys who were on the Pitch playing, seriously really not good enough

Not quite true. We were very good first 30 minutes but backed off after the goal.

Then we just couldn't get out of first gear second half. I'm not usually one to moan about players looking "leggy" - which some mistake for when we are managing the game. However, it was very clear early in the second half that Wolves were coming at us slowly but surely but we couldn't find a gear to go up to to match them. Then you looked at the bench and went... Ah... we're in trouble.

And so it proved.

There were a lot of tired players in white on that pitch today and it showed in our poor passing and heavy touches.

Worryingly, the thing for me today was how we couldn't lift the team all through the 2nd half. Wolves support gave them that push when they needed it most.

I think its silly to criticise Levy for the loss today. Yes, we were one or two players short in the summer but we've shown how deep our squad is over the course of the season so far, today was just one game too much in a ridiculous set of fixtures.

Had we had a full squad available to us, i'd argue that we would be right up there challenging Liverpool; we would not have lost today had we been able to call upon the likes of Dier, Wanyama, Dembele and Aurier.

Look I quite like Liverpool and think Klopp and the club have done really well bringing Robertson and TAA through and getting VVD etc but they haven’t had anything like our injuries, particularly in midfield.

There just seems no perspective at all when we suffer a loss.

I agree Liverpool have been lucky with injuries but it means they have not rotated much.

The point I'm making is Liverpool pissed all over arsenal and we lost to them 4-2 despite being in the lead. Then you add wolves. They were there for the taking and for some stupid reason we were content with trying to keep ball.

I blame Levy for the fact we had the more valuable asset that we had on a long contract and he should have negotiated Sancho into the deal considering we were in the commanding position of the negotiations.
We weren't though, were we? Walker wanted out and only had eyes for City - he was going there Sancho or no Sancho.

City didn't want us to have Sancho and had another taker, they took the hit - who else was in for Walker besides City?

We've only played some good stuff recently because Dier's been taken out of the midfield. Sissoko and Winks must be fucked, Eriksen too and you can understand why Poch is still a little reluctant to throw Skipp in as a starter as he's just turned 18.

Your general point is probably right, but we still need better midfielders, no doubt. Winks, Skipp and Sissoko should be squad players in this moment, but neither Dier, Dembele or Wanyama are good enough to be ahead of them. Mousa and Victor are not fit enough and Dier is just not good enough in midfield. I'd hope we bring at least one in there, promote Skipp and drop Dier back into defence to replace Toby.

It is one of those tags that come back to haunt us from time to time which undoes all the good work but unfortunately we do suffer this problem and until we get past that the title will always be just a dream.
Liverpool have not just got stronger from actual investment but also their mindset has improved and that is likely to carry them to a league title.

I don't think it sets us back at all. I think we all agree we still ahead of plan but these moments are why Toby and Eriksen look elsewhere. We need to stop sitting back. We just can't do it. It's not a Poch thing, Redknapp thing or AvB thing, it's a Spurs thing. We always do it as soon as we publicly state we title challengers

When did we last sign 2-3 players that didn't take a year to settle in? The only personnel that is likely to make a difference is a player already performing well in the premier league, big money, bit wages. We aren't that club yet.
