Apologies to those who I negged retrospectively.....I have removed the negs!......whilst I don’t agree with meaningless negativity during a match, especially so early on , I really hope tonight’s performance makes the point.

It's possible to be critical while still supporting the team.

Having watched BT sport tonight I was getting slightly pissed of how they were going on about Spursy. Mainly Mr Lineker. Ok I get it as we were known to have a soft underbelly. That was the past. Oi Gary shut it!!!
I think Lineker was trying to take the p*** out of "Dessy" for using the word "Spursy"

I was pretty annoyed Dessy used that term in a serious question to Jenas as completely irrelevant in the last couple of seasons.. would've done similar to Lineker and made a joke about it. Dessy is clearly clueless

I think the only way we will truly lose all these negative associated tags is by winning trophies, you'd look bloody stupid saying something was Spursy if we were champions... Let's say we beat Juventus, then Barcelona in the quarters and Bayern in Semi's then lost to Man Utd in the final... the Spursy tag would remain. Tonights game, the Madrid one, Dortmund, Man Utd, our recent domination over Arsenal etc etc whilst all very enjoyable by themselves will never fully eradicate this negativity that's built up with decades of failure...

Spursy seems to be more commonly used by some of our own, self loathing fans than the media or anyone else.
Its almost like they can't wait to use it, and do so at any opportunity.

Dunno probably, football twitter is just the worst.
Truly truly awful stuff by awful people.

Yeah namely Paul O'Keefe...

Last time I insulted him on SC, loads of little cucks tweeted him to try and grass me up and he was visibly shaken by it. Any Spurs fan that has over 10k followers that isn't a celebrity is almost guaranteed to be a twat.

Thing is, every team is spursy. Talking to a Liverpool mate of mine, how he describes Liverpool is the same as how we do with spurs.

This is just it, it just means sometimes losing a game you're expecting to win, or even just letting a one goal lead slip and getting a draw.

All teams do it every now and again.

Also I don't know why people talk like this is a new thing. I remember my dad saying "typical spurs that" when I was a kid in the mid 90s.

Don't think that's the case, people will always fins an excuse to bring it out no matter what, if we won the CL and had a bad start to the following season then you see how quick some of our own fans will bring out the bottling/typical Spurs tag.

Every club has their thing that is considered 'typical' by the people that don't follow them particularly closely.

Back in the mid-90s, 'Spursy' more meant a lack of consistency than anything else. It meant competing with QPR and Wimbledon to see who would come 9th. It meant changing managers every two years. It meant being thumped on a regular basis by all of our rivals, and having embarrassing losing streaks against the likes of Aston Villa.

Now people attach it to simply not winning trophies. It's ridiculous.

Of course when mentioning the lack of trophies and how 'Spursy' it is these days, nobody talks about the fact we're competing with the moneybags clubs who just throw money at the problem whilst we do it all spending about 200m less than most. Or the fact that we're doing everything this season without even having a home stadium.

If being 'Spursy' means competing, and besting, some of the best teams in Europe on a regular basis, then frankly I'm delighted with that. People can talk about the lack of trophies all they want, but look down the road at the Scum and ask them if trophies have kept them happy over the last few years. They'd kill to be 'Spursy' at the moment.
