Makes perfect sense; every Spurs fan knows our squad is too big & needs to be leaner.

I would bin Naughton, Sandro, Dawson, Paulinho, Kaboul. I feel from what I've seen that they don't fit into the high intensity, high speed philosophy we're trying to implement.

I just think we need to be more ruthless regarding how we operate in terms of what we want to achieve & how we go about that.

We have a manager now who is make all the right noises; he wants achieve greatness & do it with flair. Let us now allow him to mould a squad that is capable of achieving that greatness.

Big names on big wages are going to be hard to shift, particularly when they have not covered themselves in glory but are still fussy about downsizing, so we will probably end up trimming the squad by loaning or selling youngsters, which is a shame, as they might have more to offer than some our current bench blockers.

“And, the Europa League – if we play the Europa League – we need to play to win.”

I don't think anyone disagrees with that ambition or ever did.
If they are wearing the shirt, they are there to win.

33 senior players currently by my reckoning. Some of the younger ones we have seen in pre-season could be loaned out but I think we need to sell at least 5.

Walker unlikely to start the season. Yedlin not to join until January and even then a loan for the rest of the PL season seems likely, so I'd expect Naughton to go nowhere. I expect us to shift a central defender though, and agree about the midfielders you mention.

Dawson and Ekotto to go plus two of Sandro/Paulinho/Dembele if Schneiderlin joins. Probably Carroll and/or Mason out on loan, maybe even Pritchard too.
Still potential to see one of Kaboul/Chiriches go too if Musacchio comes in, and Pochettino is happy with Dier & Fryers providing backup.

Pritchard's at Brentford.
