I reckon he'll start Thursday for us .....would like to see him play a full 90 mins but he did get stuck in when he came on.
Could be a hidden gem we've found .....lets hope so specially for the fee we paid :)
Early days so fingerscrossed.

Not really long enough to make an informed judgement, but it's looking good so far!

Definitely Plan B after Schneiderlin, but Schneiderlin was an unknown playing in the Championship a couple of seasons back. Maybe Stambouli can save us around 23m quid and do the job for us. The fans at Montpellier loved him to bits by all accounts.

Fazio is not a big fan. Like his attitude on the pitch, but not sure about his sportsmanship. He has no problems rubbing people up the wrong way. Just watch his video on the OS against Fazio in the golf challenge.

All well and good having the highest number of tackles, but what about the post-tackle distribution?? If it ends up back at an opponent's feet, then the tackle is pointless.

I'm not saying he did that, but I'm just saying be wary of stats that say most tackles in a game. It proves he's not afraid of a challenge, that's all.

Agree stats can be misleading .....as in this one.
He made joint most tackles but only played 20 mins compared with Dembele's 90 mins .....one big difference was when he came on,sunderland were enjoying their best possession of the whole game and were attacking us......Hence the reason more tackles were needed to brake up play or win the ball back....prior to that period we had the ball more often then not,so tackles weren't needed, well not many.

But he did look good when he came on and did get stuck in and never seen him give the ball away......but you can't judge someone on 20mins ,no way.
Lets hope he starts Thursday and given a full 90mins ( like I said on a post earlier on this thread ).

One thing I noticed when he came on is he made passes with both feet. Something you rarely see these days.

I think given time he will become a better investment than MS.

Not only that, but he seems to make quick decisions with the ball - knew where he was going when he got it - some of our players tend to stand on the ball a bit trying to figure out where to go.

Did you not watch the frigging game............of course at the same time. He's a Baldini signing didn't you know?...........:bag:

I like the idea of a jumping two footed (side-foot) pass. He must've looked like a penguin.

Benji The Penguin.

The perfect name for a feature on the Official Website ... to go with "Digger's Diary". Ah Simon Davies. What a truly gloriously average player. :)

First view of Stambouli was him making a tackle, thought he did well during his 20 minutes. He seemed to be at home almost immediately. Also he seem a two footed player, very rare. Could well be a unearthed gem, time will tell.

4 successful tackles in 20 minutes... =.. 18 tackles in a game. Nobody gets near that number. Let's see how he goes but great first appearance from the lad.
