'Stambouli will fit right in with Pochettino's pressing game'

Looks like we have a good player, who is injury free to replace Sandro. MP is getting his players.. next window will see Soton under pressure to sell Morgan to us, then we will have our Modric replacement in MF. I also like the idea of the signing or Saldado team mate from Valencia. This could get him back to scoring and be the player we signed.

Schneiderlin is nothing like Modric.

Pity about his passing range not being great. I was hoping for an Alonso type.

He is bound to be a good asset to our pressing game, but will need time to settle. MS would have made a lot more sense and would probably have been an instant hit wheras Stambouli has work to do.
Overall the business we did in the window tells me that we are still very much a work in progress. Two relatively low key signings and an exodus of good squad players has been great business for the club and left Poch with a much slimmer and quite useful squad, but he has a lot of work to do before we become world beaters. I think we will sorely regret not bringing in another good striker. We will definitely need one in January, and by then Poch will probably know a lot more about who else he needs to bring in. It will be a very interesting season, but I believe the last game was a reality check for us. We will have to be patient and wait for our talented players to gel and grow into a top four challenging side.

I guess the debate right now is whether he is expected to start alongside Capoue or, as Eastham has suggested, he may well be competition for Etienne.

It strikes me that we've arguably signed the two best "under the radar" CDM's from France in the last 2 seasons which can only be a good thing.

I'll be interested to see how he does. I did watch a bit of Montpellier in their Lique 1 winning year but can't recall him being that noticeable. That's maybe no bad thing in a player because players normally stand out because of showing quality or a lack of it. Young players new to a first team playing steadily and developing is arguably what you want, find your feet, keep focused, don't try and be too clever but gradually expand your game as you become more familiar and comfortable in the team and know your team mates strengths and weaknesses
I would imagine he will partner Capoue, both arguably DM's, but Capoue has a lot more to his game and has a very good passing range and also spent his final season at Toulouse mainly in a more am role and showed he could be effective there finishing with 7 goals to be their second top scorer.
Bentalab is a steady young player who works hard but looks a bit overly defensive, if this lad has a better attacking instinct and looks to get the ball forward more and can also provide the off ball work suggested then he sounds as if he will have the edge of both Bentalab and Paulinho, although in Paulinho's favour he does have goals in him
I still think we'll go for Snidey in Jan even if this lad shines. Given the work rate needed for two cm's playing a high intensity pressing game it makes sense to have like for like cover to keep the players fresh whilst playing with the same system and intensity

Hopefully we can build our own and not pay north of 20m for MS. MS has been at saints for 5years, with the help of poch he has become a player in demand, making the international squad. I cant remember anyone chasing after him prior to pochs magical touches.

lets see what poch van do with what we have firstly and maybe we can use the MS cash for a high street purchase, probably buying from Selfridges or Harrods than MS.

I'm expecting someone in the Parker mould if i am honest. And in Parkers first 12 months or more he was superb for us. If we get someone at that level we are onto a winner. And we'll potentially have a new fans favourite.

BS and MS could be an unglamorous, yet highly effective, engine room for us

Let's see what January brings

We actually signed six players in the window, including Yedlin who we loaned back to the selling club till the summer.

I agree, Parker's aggression and drive in the middle especially for the first 6 months was a sight to behold! Really gave the midfield a much better balance with the craft and passing genius of Modric. I really liked the sentence below in the article as this is something we have lacked in the middle on a consistent basis since Parker picked up the injury and Sandro has never stayed fit:

His attitude and desire have always been big attributes in France. It is possible that Pochettino sees him as bringing that winning mentality, that drive to the team.

Good point ;) But we've still made a profit over the summer and none of our signings have been big names. I have to confess that the Swansea pair were the only signings I was familiar with before we were after them.

Surprised Poch didn"t give Ever Benaga a go in the Summer. He is head and shoulders above Capoue and and would have been a good link up man for Lamela.

Allegedly has a drink problem. Pity as a couple of years ago he was great.
