As any Yid will know standing at football is something a lot of us love to do and something that a lot are forced to do. Any Park Lane/Shelf regular or regular away match goer will tell you that standing at football to some is a way of life and for some it is the only way they can really enjoy the match however to some it is a constant pain because they are forced to stand by others in front of and around them at the match.

The current state of football is depressing, you can’t stand without a steward on your back every 2 two minutes, you can’t have a drink in the stands, you can’t expect any sort of atmosphere unless it is a big game (amazingly these are the games where most stand) and all this for those extortionate prices. The football supporter’s federation and standupsitdown (www.standupsitdown.co.uk) are aiming to change the current regulations which state that NO fans are allowed to stand during play at football matches. Both have made fantastic progress in the last couple of years but they cannot do this on their own and need YOUR help. Whether you are someone who loves to stand or someone who is forced to stand by others standing in seated areas, the introduction of safe standing areas would benefit all of us. Standing sections would give us the choice to sit or stand without fear of ruining the match for others or being ejected for standing in a seated area. It would also raise stadium capacities, provide cheaper tickets and give us the chance to congregate in a safe standing area so we can improve the match day atmosphere.

The government seem to hide behind the Hillsborough tragedy when confronted with this argument but the fact is if a standing section is well managed and controlled properly rather than being a vast open terrace where everyone is penned in by fences then the chances of something like that happening again are less than none existent as the German safe standing model has proved.

For all of you out there that care about having the choice and being able to enjoy the game without fear of ruining someone else’s day then join www.standupsitdown.co.uk and get on the forum and join the football supporters federation who are constantly fighting our corner and both NEED YOUR HELP.
