From what ive read (never watched him) he could be considered a defensive midfielder which would help loads given our current situation with vic injured and dier needed elsewhere possibly

Yeah, good point

However, that would certainly be 'short-term' planning; if Victor comes back and we also sign a CB, then within 9 or 10 months we'll have to sell someone.

Added to this, £31m+ is a lot of money for a 'stop-gap' player (even if he stays and Vic or Dier leaves).

I see him as the 3rd choice fail safe. We're in the market for a DM who can dictate play which we don't currently have. Winks can do it but it's not his natural game. I guess the other options will be Kovacic, Brozovic, Ndombele and maybe a surprise like Pjanic.

If they don't work then what to make of Labotka? I like him. Good control of the ball, very good off the ball and positionally astute. Most importantly though he keeps the ball moving. He's small for the English game and only played the position for about a season.

I'd rather all of the alternatives but I'm happy if he's the one we get.

I'm especially happy if it's because we've used the funds we'd have otherwise spent on a number 8 instead.

Of all the players we have been linked to that I don't pretend to know anything about, after reading some of the information written about him posted in here etc I'd like him to be one of our signings.

Probably not a popular view but that's cool, he seems like he has the potential anyway, to become quite the footballer.

We'll have to see!

Midget...apologies to all small people, but as a DM? He’ll get knocked around.

More about reading the game well and nicking the ball back at the right time. Once on the ball its more balance and agility. Much easier for a smaller player to take the foul than someone stacked too!

Ally G with the cold water. Guess we will wait and see.

"football.london understands that Tottenham are not looking to sign 23-year-old Celta Viga midfielder Stanislav Lobotka despite the reports in the past 24 hours linking the north London club with a £31m move for the Slovakian international"

I think Ally G might be right. Pochettino wants him but that might not be enough. Wouldn't be surprised if Lobotka remained at Celta or signed for PSG instead.

Guess this is why we have a scouting system, rather than the Chelsea approach

A midfield 3 of Lobotka, Winks and Eriksen would, aesthetically, be really funny in the PL. Throw Grealish in there as well for good measure.

Disappointing. I enjoy to watch this style of player.

good for you, the desperation in this place for any old signing amuses me greatly :ROFLMAO:
Not half as much as you eating your underpants would amuse us Mr Harry Kane will never make it ;)

As for this guy, have you ever seen him play? I’m pretty sure any answer other than no is a lie, so don’t answer that! X

He’s quick, compact and direct. Can break a high press. I’m in
