Is he not quite short to play that position in the PL?

Edit: ignore that. He looks stocky enough

Good write up + videos on Lobotka from a Gooner who loves him :joyful:

https://pmanalytics.Wordpress.com/2018/05/31/stanislav-lobotka-celtas-star-midfielder/

1. Purchased last summer by CV for €5m. Quickly rose from bench player to starter. Value has greatly increased.

2. Plays most commonly as the deepest midfielder in a 4-3-3

3. Pretty short at 5’7” = low center of gravity

4. Technically excellent, incredibly strong in evading/breaking through a press, and tied-2nd best dribble completion rate in La Liga

5. His play is less about directly contributing to goals and more about possession protection and keeping momentum

6a. Strength: can pick out a pass in no time, usually progressing play

6b. Con: may pass too quickly, and may play teammates into trouble

Sounds very much like our last diminutive CM from Eastern Europe. Can’t remember seeing him play but Pochettino is well connected in La Liga so I trust his judgement.

I disagree with the notion that he’ll free up Dier to play CB though, Pochettino loves a bruiser in the middle. More likely to play in the 8/19 pivot of a midfield 3 with Dier anchoring begins.

You know the market is crazy when Spanish buy out clauses start looking appealing.

This made me laugh far too much, great timing.

Have literally no idea who this guy is, none, but opinion here says he is decent so good enough for me.

Lots of people on here wanted to sign GNK despite it being obvious he wasn’t good enough. So I’d be careful thinking that! ?

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

GNK we all knew was a raw prospect but this guy seems a bit more established but its a link!!

Not to sound sensationalist but he gave me Modric feels when watching the youtube clips. His abaility to evade & escape pressure is reminiscent of Luka so could well be a good option if this happens.

Well this has left me firmly in the 'sign this guy immediately' camp and now I'll be gutted when we inevitably don't, brilliant

Technically he appears a decent shout.

My concern...Great that he plays the quick passes, but like the informative article suggested, he sometimes rushes into a pass playing team-mates into trouble.

Let's not forget, usually alot less time on the ball in Premier league before closed down.

However, certainly think he has something to offer, and more than enough good traits to work with.

I'm happy with the link.

You do realise that at this stage of this current window, most of SC will see any midfielder that we are linked with as potentially the next.....

Same as Brozovic in Italy. Can't keep up with the PL TV Money inflation.

Kicked us in the nuts with Toby too. Back when his contract was signed £25m seemed very high for a 30yo CB.

We're also being linked to a Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez by a few Spanish journos on the Twitter, could be a coincidence but that would suggest we're certainly in discussion with Celta about someone at least. Perhaps a double swoop?
