Mauricio Pochettino's arrival at Tottenham has heralded a new dawn and given new chances to several players who perhaps thought their White Hart Lane days were numbered.

Marca, eh. Must be true. They would never print a load of rubbish....

Soldado is on holiday at the moment, he's been posting pictures from Ibiza. I thought he may go to Atletico if they sell Costa, but they just signed Correa from San Lorenzo.

Apparently we only need to recoup £13m to cover our initial investment.....the rest was performance related add ons which haven't been met.
If he wants out then get rid.

Wouldn't surprise me if he wanted out and I have sympathy for him. It was the wrong move, both for him and us and if we can sell without incurring too much of a loss and get someone in more suited to the PL and our system then it's fine by me.

I saw this figure quoted yesterday in an article in the Telegraph, and it just emphasises how little the fans actually get to know about football transfers. If we have "only" paid £13m for RS, how much of the rest of last year's dealings can be taken at face value? Did we ever receive £86m for Bale in the first place, or was much of that performance related? It's starting to look as though our "massive outlay" on players last summer was a bit of a PR stunt.

Said that with Modric , said same with Bale, just don't know any more...

That was different though, because Marca is basically Real Madrid's propaganda machine and wanted to whip up a whole media storm to make us sell the two that you've mentioned..

Soldado isn't a Real Madrid target on the other hand

Yes they did and although I didn't want to believe them, they were spot on. I imaging that they are spot on with this story as well, sounds very plausible if you ask me.

He's the one player I really want to shine at Spurs. A lot of strikers struggle in their first season in the PL but I think that he certainly has the quality, if not the confidence, to be an important part of our team.
The system was all wrong for him last season while he never had the chance to form any sort of partnership with anyone in the front line. We need him in the box banging them in, not holding the ball up out wide, like he seemed to be for most of last season.

Star told agent... Or agent told star?

Or agent told porkies?

Why the hell would his agent be so openly advertising his client wants to take a pay cut? Is he competing for to the world's most incompetent agent award or something?

Agents get a cut of the transfer fee and sign on fees afaik.

Yeah, but no agent could ever take a cut if his client has fired him before being allowed to make a transfer for doing such a lousy job.

Even if Soldado is indeed willing to take a pay cut, there's no way his agent will be angling for his agent to take a pay cut. That would only happen if there's no other way, without screaming it to the world via journos.

Soldado doesn't seem to me to be someone who will leave a team having failed.
On the other hand, after his first season in the EPL, he may feel that he is better suited to La Liga
